Ekniti

Thai Airways International chairman Ekniti Nitithanprapas has reportedly tendered his resignation from the post, according to a Nation TV report.

The station cited a THAI source as saying that Ekniti's resignation offer followed the recent signal by Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob for the board members of departments under the Transport Ministry to resign as they were appointed by the previous government.

He said it was up to the new deputy ministers to decide if these board members should be reappointed.

Saksayam made the remark after assigning his deputies Athirat Rattanaset and Thaworn Senniam to oversee the water transportation and air transportation departments respectively. As of last Friday, there was no statement from THAI to the Stock Exchange of Thailand on this matter.

It was speculated that the ministry's permanent secretary Chaiwat Thongkamkoon will be nominated to replace Ekniti at THAI.

Ekniti assumed the top job at the national carrier in July last year.

The saying 'The rats are fleeing the sinking ship' comes to minds...

More like get out quick before they do an audit, and find things amiss.

Find an excuse to cancel these board members appointments but give them the opportunity to re-purchase their very rewarding and privileged places at the trough. Job performance doesn't come into it.

If some choose not to play the game it can then allow the deputy ministers to practice a bit of nepotism when choosing their replacements.

A fairly traditional custom given most of the ministries are under the control of Palang Pracharat Party (ex junta) or the traitorous Democrats.

Well after the poor performance under his management I wonder how excessive his severance package is ?

More like TM Chitchob's pigs need to get their noses in the THAI trough.

Audit? THAI?

Honestly Colin, I thought you'd been around the traps long enough to know better than that.

With millions and millions of baht losses in THAI and THAI SMILE, I am not surprised!

Depends if the audit is done by the accounts department or the 'Creative' accounts department

How about forgetting ‘face’ and getting a non Thai airline professional to run the airline.

As the tourist start to drop of it will only take a small drop for Thai Airways to be asking for a very big hand out.

why you ask will the tourist stop coming, well just sit back and think about it.

Until THAI hires an experienced airline executive with turnaround experience the losses will continue. This person would need full authority to stop the pigs feeding at the trough.

They don't want ferang.. It's save face....

Yeah everyone leave the kingdom on air Asia

I'm pretty sure that you'll both find annual reports are produced for THAI as it's a publicly quoted company.

I have just watched a video named "Singapore Airlines in a class of their own". It should be compulsory viewing for all Thai Airways staff from the CEO down.
