smartecosse Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 so I applied last year to TOT and got an email the other day asking me to pick one of four numbers available. I got back to them with my choice and was then told maybe 6 months, maybe next year, maybe two years for them to actually have a line available !!!!! The managers advice "mr you speak to TT&T" so I did and have been told, maybe this year may be two years . As I do not want to pay 100k to jump the queue are there any ofther service providers? I actually only need the line for a fax so don't want to have to pay a ridiculous amount to have one.

I had a friend in a similar situation and he ended up with a phone from CAT in town that uses satellite or something. looks and acts like a real phone but has an antenna on the side. He also gets ADSL on it. I think he paid 2000 baht and has a monthly bill of 1200 baht. Check with CAT.
peterjackson Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Hey If it is only for a fax, you could use efax. If you just want to receive faxes, there service is free, if you want to send and receive, it costs approx. $ 10 a month. Great service, have used it for over 10 years. Kind regards Peter

Kind regards Peter However Mix D-O wireless phone and efax (also used for about 8 years now and can recommended) or other fax outbound systems and you can get by.. I use digital faxing for a while now but it isnt as simple as write insert send.. Helps if you have a good scanner / fax bit of hardware.. One that makes multi page scans (with sheet feed) is especially helpful.. Certainly cheaper than any 100k queue jumping though..
smartecosse Posted March 21, 2007 Author Posted March 21, 2007 so i didn't understand any of the tech geek there........... Do you mean its possible to have a conventional fax running of something other than a phone line?
LivinLOS Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 Not a conventional fax no.. But you can use computers to send faxes.. This can either be via a modem and the computer being a pseudo fax (not possible without a normal phone line) or can be using fax broadcasting services like efax or many others.. You either upload the file to fax or email the file to fax depending on the service.. This would work via any internet service even a wireless one.. Services like eFax will also provide you with a tel number that gives fax and voicemail service.. This is then digitized and email to you.. I have been sold on efax due to travelling.. I have had the same (us based) fax number now for 8 or so years.. Where ever I am globally I receive the fax next time I check email.. Thats a very useful feature if you travel for work (or pleasure) a lot etc. Downside is you often have to print a document simply to sign it and rescan it to send the 'fax' hence having a good / fully featured scanner is a big help (and one that has a multi sheet scan facility).. You can also save your sig as an image file and import it into the recieved fax but thats all tricks for ease of use..
smartecosse Posted March 21, 2007 Author Posted March 21, 2007 ok, i see now That wouldn't actually solve the problem. I have fax and phone lines at work etc for the pc's but simply wanted a fax line / phone line to attach a "standard" fax to mainly as my parents still haven't sussed email out and are only happy faxing and i would rather they went to the house than my office guess they will just need to go on a basic pc course as I am not paying 100k for a line typically pathetically corrupt services blah blah blah
