Do I do this before I check in at the airport ?

No. Just go as usual.  When they see you overstayed they will call an officer that will take you to the accountant. No fuzz and no questions asked and no problem in future. Relax

  • You go up to the usual immigration counter. When they see your overstay they will direct you to a place (desk or office) to pay.   24 hour, no problem.

Not Correct, you might be thinking if someone loses thier job or their reason for an extension, then typically you apply for an extension it is denied and you are allowed 7 days to leave.  That is totally different than overstaying his visa.

OP please keep in mind if you are caught by Immigration or the police and found to be on overstay you will be detained in Immigration detention until you have the money for the fine and ticket out. You should be making plans to leave right now, go to Laos, Cambodia etc and get a visa!

Be careful about going to Laos as at least 1 airline will not let you fly there if you are on overstay

You are allowed 7 days grace ( overstay). No penalty. But 23 will definitely be picked up

NOT correct, Sometimes you don't have to pay for 1 day overstay but for all other days it's 500 Baht a day with a maximum of 20.000 Baht.

On a Retirement Visa , there is 7 days grace if leaving the Kingdom with regards to not doing the 90 day reporting. There is no issue at the airport

Not correct, the 7 day grace period is only for the 90 day reporting inside Thailand and not for leaving the country.

But they don't (normally) check the 90 days reporting status when leaving the country so it should not be a issue.

You have 7 days after expiry to do the 90 day reporting.

This is on the Thai Embassy website.

At the airport, they are only interested in the are entry permit.

The 7 day is only when doing the reporting inside Thailand.

I'm laughing out loud big style at several posts saying "no questions asked" etc etc. I can confirm that its absolutely inaccurate and my overstay was not remotely 23 days !!

Why anyone would want to stay here longer than absolutely necessary, and pay to get out is beyond me.
