chronic sinusitis

Featured Replies

i have had chronic sinusitis all my life.

get frequent infections.

i have had deviated septum surgery years ago.

have had frontal sinus obliteration.

doctor here has mentioned endoscopic sinus surgery.

does any one have any experience about it.

i am 71 is it worth it?

have no idea of the cost.

i am in bkk.

i have read pros and cons about it.

I’ve had 2 surgeries.  Septoplasty + submucosal resectioning of the turbinates in 2010 and Coblation in 2016.  After the coblation, I ended up with ENS (empty nose syndrome).  Wish I never had the second procedure done.

I hadn’t mine done in Los Angeles so the cost isn’t applicable here. From what I have been quoted here for further surgeries (that’s what ENTs do), it’s not much cheaper here.  Cost shouldn’t be your concern.  Getting to the root of the problem should be.  That way, hopefully you can avoid surgery and any associated risks.

What is the purpose of the proposed surgery, given that you have already had deviated septum corrected?

Without knowing the purpose of the surgery/assumed root of the problem nothing can be said.

Suggest you consult Asst. Prof Songklot Aeumjaturapa at St Louis Hospital for second opinion. He will nto suggest surgery unless really necessary.

i keep getting infections in my sinuses.

doctor mentioned surgery with no solid reason, that is why i am kinda set against any surgery.

been here 7yrs. and lost count as to how many infections.

when i go to the doctor for an infection, i get the same meds every time.

augmentin, bilaxten, ropect and sulidine. i take cettec daily.

saw doctor, changed antibiotic to meiact(cefditoren) from augmentin, seems to be working. at least no yellow creamy or green chunks discharge.

was kinda shocked at the price of the antibiotic, but if it works, so be it.
