Diphenhydramine or alternative?

Is diphenhydramine (the active ingredient in Benadryl) available in Thailand?  If not, can anyone recommend a good alternative, i.e., something with decent antihistamine properties and also a slight sedative effect (causes drowsiness, as a sleep aid)?

Atarax. The name brand (i.e., "Atarax") seems to be out of stock everywhere, but any decent pharmacy should have some Thai generic equivalent.

Diphenhydramine is available here under several brand names including Benadryl, Codiphen, Dphenhydramine Asian Pharm, Sedatab, etc.

Atarax (Hydroxyzine) is indeed off market but there are many other brands of it still available.

chlorpheniramine is available in most, if not all, pharmacy. maybe some local general store have this antihismatine.

 

atarax is HIGHLY sedative and also available in most pharmacy.

Atarax is now off market. But there are many other brands of same thing (Hydroxyzine). Histan is a common one but there are otherwis eand pretty much all pharmacies carry at least one brand.

 

If you need it only for sleep, hydroxyzine is better in my experience than chlorphenamine, But if you need the antihistamine action as well, with sleepiness as a side effect, chlorphenamine is better and all pharmacies carry it.
