Who's got the money?

Featured Replies

Reading the newsletter regularly I'm amazed at some of the property offerings and advertorial bargains.

Just saw a Gym set at the special price of 250k baht, reduced from 350k baht.

Often see the bargain basement Phuket Villas reduced by 9 % to 15 million.

Then get to the guts of the newsletter and back to the real farang expat world. How to make bread 5 baht at less than the shops can, problems with 800k or 400k or any k at all in the bank to meet immigration requirements.

So my question is - does anyone actually consider buying some of the properties or products on offer at those prices. The Pattaya condo at a reduced price for a quick sale - which is still the same original price complete with bunk beds in the main bedroom?

I fully realise advertising is the bread and butter of the forum owners - that's how money invested is returned ...business 101. (As an aside I regularly control budgets over 2m US so I do understand investment and return).

But I've never seen something useful for many posters such as an electrical contractor or plumber or tiler advertising. The contractor would get business the forum owners would get repeat advertising and income.

Am I being too simplisitic?

saving myself 5 baht on a dish is how i can finance smoking for 10k a month

The Mrs.

I've read your post 3 times, some paragraphs even more, in an effort to get the gist of it.

I think I got it. You are commenting on the ad choices that accompany the content.

That being the case, I think perhaps your beef is with Google who might be the one selling the  service of ad placement (a management roll).

Just ignore them. "Ads, what ads"?

I agree - advertising for services as you mention would be very useful and profitable for those providing the services.  Maybe ask a moderator?

The cost of your suggestion for a business with small turnover...A one man band, for instance..

Do they have large contractors companies which work all over Thailand? Do these people speak English?

As far as I see most contractors are small local companies and most speak no or very little English.

If I would need a plumber I would ask the locals or a shop nearby where pluming parts are sold. Motorcycle taxi riders are as usual a good information source.

I guess you don't subscribe to the newsletter. Similar ads to this in every newsletter. Not from Google but from the forum publisher (and I don't have a beef with anyone).

Just curious to know who would consider paying 135 million baht, in this example, on a property when many posters are struggling to come up with 400/800k. I'm sure that there will be prospective buyers flush with funds, but I doubt they read the Thai Visa Forum newsletters.
