More than 120 U.S. military construction projects to be hurt byTrump's border wall funding

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - More than 120 U.S. military construction projects will be adversely affected as the Pentagon prepares to use $3.6 billion to help build or enhance 175 miles (282 km) of the border wall with Mexico, U.S. officials said on Tuesday.

Earlier this year, President Donald Trump declared a national emergency in a bid to fund his promised wall at the U.S.-Mexico border.

The emergency declaration allows the Trump administration to use money from the military construction budget and the Pentagon has said it could use $3.6 billion from the budget.

In March, the Pentagon provided Congress with a broad list of projects that could be affected, but did not provide details.

On Tuesday, Pentagon officials said 127 would be affected and the first $1.8 billion would come from deferred military construction projects outside the United States. The second tranche would come from deferred military projects inside the United States, the officials said.

Elaine McCusker, the deputy under secretary of defence comptroller, said construction could begin as early as within 100 days on land owned by the Defense Department, such as the Barry Goldwater Air Force Range in Arizona.

There are more than 4,500 active duty and National Guard troops on the border.

Lieutenant General Andrew Poppas, director of operations at the Joint Staff, said he expected that building the wall would reduce the number of troops needed on the border.

Trump made the border wall a major 2016 campaign promise. The wall, which critics have called a political stunt, is part of his hardline immigration policies that are central to his 2020 re-election bid.

"Department of Defense components and military departments provided input and prioritised projects based on effects on readiness and consistency with the national defence strategy," Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman said.

Hoffman added that the specific projects affected would be released after lawmakers were notified of the decision.

The announcement was criticized by Democratic lawmakers.

In a conference call with U.S. House of Representatives Democrats, Speaker Nancy Pelosi discussed her phone conversation with Defense Secretary Mark Esper about the decision earlier in the day.

"My view of it is that stealing money from military construction, at home and abroad, will undermine our national security, quality of life and morale of our troops, and that indeed makes America less safe," Pelosi said, according to an aide.

She said she told Esper that Trump was negating the constitutional principle of separation of powers, the aide said.

"This decision will harm already planned, important projects intended to support our service members at military installations in New York, across the United States, and around the world," Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said in a statement.

not just the border wall but the other project also is being accelerated.  a US Space Force.

and maybe the same reason $12 trillion for the first time ever spiked in 2015/2016 and then really hit the hammer in 2019.  what the FT published a few weeks ago.  the first time ever.  but those kind of records lately are not just in The Markets. are they?

timing wise, there are no more fake narratives that will cover up why the border wall and "Space Force" need to be taken very seriously and put into action not just words.  and done by 2020.  we can use "a recession next year" and rate inversion charts to fool the "general population" as to why 30 year Treasuries dropped below 2 percent for the first time in 243 years.  even during the 30's, World War 2.  and the 2018 Lehman aftermath.  never before 2019.  because Trump might not be re-elected is a good one maybe.  but doesn't have to be spoken.

or maybe.... because also never before 2019 was there so many extreme weather events and a great example being July 2019, the hottest month ever recorded before 2019.

and why a US Space Force has a fake purpose but also a real one.  one agent "SRM".

and a better border wall, even though he didn't even confide so with his 3rd or 4th wife or whatever, is because "wild" precipitation patterns for parts of South America and most of Mexico mean we will need to stop people we would not have the heart to stop.  none of us.  and it keeps looking like it is unfolding very quickly.  Trump has always been a street wise dude.  makes bs but doesn't buy it very easily.

so maybe if we used a new word never heard before, for a "hurricane" and not just turn it into a "super hurricane" but invent a new word.  because it is a new thang.

but no, we get from our media talk about how Nostradamous or whoever "predicted" such things way way in the past.  like Hansen et. al. (and that was quite an et. al.) way way back 2015?  and 1970 something?  but it was also predicted by Nostradamous!  yeah so that that thought undercuts Hansen and "scientists who have a political agenda" (yeah they do).

that is done, by professional media, to keep it within acceptable "human emotions" and narrative ranges.  what if we did what we normally do when a word no longer works good enough and we need a new category or word to describe something?

let's start with the word "Earth".  and beginning now have a new word for it.  that would express what is simple physics to the "real world" in "human emotions".  that it is no longer the past.  and that it is not just something that happens in 2100 something when ice is melting but that it is now a planet so different, in human terms, which is important to us, that it needs a new name.

trump seems to change the design specs pretty much daily, on a whim...now it's matte black with spikes. Tomorrow? Who knows?

Trump wants a 'matte black' border wall topped with steel spikes

Yet even in this rush, Trump hasn't let his aesthetic demands fall by the wayside. One mile of the wall was painted matte black so it would be more hot and slippery to ward off climbers, and Trump is demanding it all be painted the same color, border agents tell the Post. And even though the top of that current one-mile span is covered with smooth metal plates, Trump wants those "unsightly" climbing deterrents removed in favor of spiked steel toppers, officials continue. Trump also wants to implement eminent domain laws to seize land from owners along the border unwilling to sell, though an administration official said they'd rather negotiate with landowners and pay them a "fair market value" instead.

So climbing the wall at night is what? Illegal?

Tunnels? Ladders? Oh. my.

Well, is stands to reason that if the wall is  black, people trying to cross it at night would just crash into it. So there. Or something.

Stealth wall technology, thanks to Wyle E. Coyote Consctrution Co.

trump wants it black so it's hot to the touch, presumably only during the day? Next, he'll want it heated.

Hopefully he hasn't watched Game of Thrones.

Maybe he's a Stones fan. First used Can't Always Get What You Want in campaign rallies, now a Paint It Black reference.

Back to basics, Constitution 101.

Congress is supposed to control the purse strings. Where money comes from and where it is spent. Separation of powers sort of thing, checks and balances. You could look it up.

When President can just reach into account to pay for something Congress has not authorized, then we have a problem, regardless of your view on building a wall.

Trump supporters know last line against this sort of violation of Constitution is the courts. If packed with Trump backers, that last ditch will be over run. That's where we are headed.

I feel like I'm in good hands..

Next,  he may start a television  program featuring  him as a faith healer.

It could be fun to watch.

Nothing good is ever said about anything that is contrary to the beliefs of those who think they know better. All I know after 20 years in the US Army, is that I don't know what is fact or fiction in this case; and I certainly don't rely on TVF posters to reveal the truth.
