Baggage handler arrested after 20,000 baht cash theft from tourist's luggage at Suvarnabhumi

A South Korean woman took the precaution of photographing her Thai holiday money before putting it in a wallet in checked luggage on her flight. 

 

When Lee Soyeong arrived from Incheon at 10.10 am on Friday she discovered that her 20,000 baht was missing. 

 

She went to the tourist police who contacted the airport authorities who interviewed all the baggage handlers involved on her flight. 

 

One was Phairin, 30. Four 1000 baht notes were found in his personal locker.

 

One was the same serial number as the one on the top of the pile in the photo on the tourist's phone.

 

Phairin was charged with theft at an airport. 

 

Sanook did not report what had happened to the other 16,000 baht.

Why would you put cash, no matter how well disguised, in your checked luggage? 

 

The Korean lady only photographed the pile not the individual notes, if the baggage handlers had left the top note behind she would have had no evidence a to their thievery.

 

Were these the same staff who X-ray the luggage?

Koreans? But she did a great job to remove some gangsters there. Of course strange that she was so careful that she even took photos of the money she put into the luggage. Perhaps she did all this on purpose.

Chinese tourists who go to europe also make pics of the cash (7000 us$) it costs them to go to Paris and shop like crazy. That goes on their facebook.

True,  although in this case she had photos of the money she had in her checked luggage.  So unless her phone was also in the checked luggage I reckon the immigration officer would have to be really mean to deny entry.
