Markets/shops In Bangkok

Featured Replies

I am in Bangkok in May and would like to have a good nose round the markets. I've been to Chatuchak and ambled down the Koh Sarn Road, Patpong, however, never been to Pratunum, MBK (I know its not a market) would these be worth a visit. What about Sampong (Chinatown). Basically, I'm looking for some clothes, and a friend makes jewellery and she would like to have a nose round some wholesale markets, if there are any. Only have 2 days in BKK, but am quite prepared to shop till I drop as have done the touristy sights etc....

Many thanks

Sampeng - China town is good for the jewellery. You can get everything you want in one long alley.

Potunam is good for clothes (though most are originally bought at wholesale from Chinatown).

MBK is not worth going to, in my opinion.

My missus is possibly the best "cheap charlie" shopper in Bangkok. If you have any specific questions when you arrive here, then CC me and I'll give you her phone number - you won't go wrong with her advice - She spent a week checking out the best wholesale jewellery in Bangkok, before making some bits and pieces. She's usually wearing the latest Bangkok fashions, that she managed to buy for 50 baht...
