I get bombarded by adverts for some Japanese translator gadget that supposedly lets you talk in any language.

Anyone heard or know about this thing? Sounds dodgy to me.

how is it a scam?  I think there are phone apps that do the same? My GF talks into her phone and gets a translation... seems the technology exists.

no need for this app. Save your money - try google translater - 

you can use it on your telephone and it does for free what the app promises.
