" A thing like this has never happened to any President before. Not even close!" " Trump said.

Very true, that is what happens when there is a president who is trying to act like a dictator and feels he is above the law. Much pressure on the checks and balances system at the moment.

So there's a law against breaking campaign promises? Please elaborate.

Trump may well be the squeakiest clean president the US has ever had. After nearly three years of obsessive "GET TRUMP!" investigations by people who hate Trump so much they can't see straight, they still have NOTHING. Nada. Zilch. And now they want to do a fishing expedition?

HILARIOUS.

Well, if you mean by extorting, making the demand on behalf of the U.S. government to oust prosecutor Victor Shokin, fine. Because Biden was carrying out U.S. policy. Which agreed with European policy and IMF policy. And with the Ukrainian parliament which also wanted Shokin out. Not that Shokin wasn't zealous in his way. For instance he vigorously pursued on corruption charges  against a major anti-corruption NGO. ANd when his own anti-corruption prosecutors (who had been remarkably reluctant to pursue corruption charges against Ukrainian politicians and business people) were found to be in possession of a remarkable quantity of valuable jewels, Shokin zealously attempted to prosecute the investigators targeting them.

Of course Giuliani did get an affidavit from Shokin claiming he had been pursuing an investigation of Burisma. Of course, this affidavit was signed on behalf of an allegedly corrupt Ukrainian fighting extradition to the US. The same Ukrainian that Giuliani=s 2 confederates/clients were going to meet in Vienna via one way tickets. Oddly enough, Giuliani was scheduled to go there the day after.

These 2 confederate/clients were also trying to oust the US ambassador to Ukraine because she stood in the way of them replacing the reformist chief of the Ukraine natural gas corporation with a compliant crony and millions of dollars. And Giuliani helped to spread their lies. Now Giuliani's become a laughing stock and a huge anchor tied to Trump.

Maybe you're right. We better just investigate everyone involved in Ukraine for the past decade. I'm sure you'll agree that's the prudent thing to do, yes?

Fair enough.  However priority should be given to the most recent or still active corrupt actors.  That's Giuliani and friends.

The IRS only has jurisdiction over things that are against the tax code. Making hush money payments to women you had sex with to keep them quiet while you're in an election campaign is not a violation of tax rules, however it could be an offence under Federal Election Law.

There are various things that could be in Trump's tax returns that would not be tax code violations but could infringe different legal statutes - violations of the emoluments clause, for instance. There could also be information in his tax returns that show Trump lied about his assets to mislead investors or lenders - again that's not something that would concern the IRS but would still have legal implications.

Lots of "could" in there. The Tooth Fairy "could" be real too.

Nice try at deflection. Giuliani was Trump's private lawyer and Trump explicitly stated that Guiliani was his agent in this matter. By promoting falsehoods, Giuliani assisted 2 lowlifes in getting an obstacle to their scheme removed. So no, not everyone.

Constitutionally supported congressional oversight over a president who has clearly and severely abused his presidential powers is clearly NOT ridiculous, idiotiic, moronic and a waste of taxpayer dollars. By that measure impeaching Nixon shouldn't have been started either.

Of course it's legal. So long as they don't reveal anything classified. As for ethical, well that depends on the moral code of the person making that judgement. I do think that the organisations that pay vast sums of money to such people are stupid, and probably aren't getting their money's worth but that doesn't make it necessarily unethical.

But is is ethical ?

They will only show that he has paid no or very little income tax. Not  un-common for people who own large companies. He gets audited by the IRS each year and if anything criminal was there it would have come out long ago. This is a which hunt by a democrat district attorney and that is way Trump is fighting it. It's no bodies business what is on those tax returns.

The IRS may not be looking for bank fraud, something his tax returns are likely to indicate. A Democrat district attorney? How about a duly elected Congress? There is no witch hunt going on. You sound like a parrot. Listen to yourself!

No, this is about finally catching Don Donald with his hand in the cookie jar. He is going down. He will not win the next election. His decision on Syria sealed that fate, if it had not already been a done deal.
