Video: Driver arrested after nine vehicle carnage outside a funeral

 

 

CCTV from Nakhon Sri Thammarat in southern Thailand showed the moment when a pick-up collided with cars and other vehicles outside a funeral. 

 

Nine vehicles were damaged - one was completely destroyed by fire. Another was also damaged by fire.

 

Witnesses said that the driver of a black Mitsubishi pick-up was racing with a "big bike" when he attempted to undertake and caused the pile-up. 

 

Three people were seriously injured. 

 

The driver who caused it all is in the custody of the police. 

 

The incident occurred on the Nakhon to Chamao Road opposite the Chamao police station. 

 

The people from the parked cars were attending a funeral ceremony.

Very Lucky no one hurt or killed,the only dead one getting

cremated at the funeral,he needs to be jailed for dangerous

Two injured, one dead as pick-up truck crashes into parked cars

A race between a pick-up truck and motorbike resulted in a fatal crash and damage to nine cars parked outside a building where the owners were attending a funeral service. Three people were severely injured in the smash, with one woman later dying in hospital.

 

Policies were notified at 7pm on Saturday (October 14) that a pickup truck had smashed into a line of vehicles parked on the side of the Nakhon Si Thammarat-Songkhla road, causing significant damage to three sedans and 5 pick-ups and resulting in one vehicle, a Chevrolet sedan, catching fire. Debris was scattered as far as 100 metres from the scene.

 

Witnesses and people attending the funeral said that a big bike and a black pick-up truck seemed to be involved in a chase. The big bike slowed down as it passed the funeral party but the black pick-up was unable to stop and smashed into the vehicles.

 

Police have yet to say who was driving the black Mitsubishi pickup truck or identify the car in which the victims were sitting. The investigation is ongoing,

All the vehichles before the accident were going very fast,always slow down as a drunk on a motorsai likely to pull out ,and as a falang you would likley get strung up,,kap lot char char.

More carnage. Today in Pattaya, I witnessed yet more speeding SUVs, scooters, trucks, cars; going through red lights, zig-zaging, in and out of traffic and why? Perhaps due to an impotent police force, with no ability to proactively patrol in mobile units; an uncaring public, little consequence for breaking rhe law and seemingly, no political will to radically take action. More carnage to follow.

No learning curve here

This is always a problem, cars parked on main roads like that...

Weddings, funerals, monk celebrations....

We had a fatal accident on our wedding day, caused by a woman riding out between the parked cars onto the main road without looking !!

It's only a problem when the drivers are foreigners....

All in a day on Thai Roads  Glad no one was killed but there will be  a better accident in store i am sure of it Lets have another meeting to see how we can bring down the road toll
