Glucobay (Acarbose) availability in Thailand

Featured Replies

Hello,

My mother takes Glucobay 50 for diabetes. She's in Thailand now for a visit and I've checked the pharmacies here in Korat and can't find Glucobay. The generic name is Acarbose.

What do diabetic patients in Thailand take in place of a drug like Glucobay (which works in delaying the breakdown of starch and it's subsequent absorption into the blood) ? She has enough to last her for her visit but I am curious as to what Thais take to control their diabetes.

Thanks

Glucobay is available in Thailand (though quite expensive) but can be hard to source.

Afraid I can't advise a specific pharmacy in Korat but ones near government hospitals are usually good bets so try:

Ruean Ya Pharmacy

Na Na Pharmacy

and their general vicintit

Bioth are in google maps

As to what Thai diabetics do, thisd sort fo drug is nto usually used. Metformin and insulin.

usually there are arge ones near government hospitals so try around
