I had heard that many new high end hotels had been built. While this is mostly an expat forum, I was curious whether rooms are being filled or competition has brought down the price. I have stayed at Boathouse several times and really enjoyed it. But prices are still quite high.

I have had a number of staycations at numerous 4 & 5 star hotels on the west coast of phuket over the last several years.
 

I haven't noticed many new high-end hotels being built the last several years, except the two new ones completed at the north end of Kamala beach this year, and the new one at the north end of Patong beach that is currently under construction.

 

From my research, prices seem to have been stable or slightly rising in the 4 & 5 star hotels the last two years. 

This year most hotels are down 9-14% adr
