PARAMOUNT

Not even two Will Smiths was enough to convince audiences that Gemini Man was worth going to see.

Ang Lee's ambitious sci-fi film is projected to have a loss of $75 million or more after struggling at the box office, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The latest blow to Gemini Man was its failure to land big in China, where it could only debut with $21 million and lost out to fellow new opener, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.

Including an estimated $36.5 million in the US, the movie has grossed $118.7 million worldwide and, according to Forbes, will struggle to go past $200 million by the end of its run as it has now opened in all of the major markets bar Japan.

Aside from the content/story...

High frame rates do not guarantee high profit

Why would one use such an ambitious overly expensive technology when there is not a single cinema in the US that could play it in full frame rate (as I heard recently in a radio report)?

In Germany there is supposed to be one(!) cinema that could make use of it.

Hey Triple F, maybe you could click on the link to get the answer!

Yeah I but in my haste to post my stupid comment I totally missed the link so cheers for that.Thinking about it if they posted that headline they could have quoted that part of the story instead of the other irrelevant info so I'll not so steadfastly stand by my stupid comment!

I actually consciously avoid anything promoted as a Will Smith movie having suffered through 'I Am Legend' a few years back!

 - but then... neither has the Maleficient lead either

$$$???

I suppose it will soon be out on Disc?

 - not Dvd as it probably would not have the (frame rate) capability either

(compared to BluRay)

I liked that Legend film!

Gemini was OK- some good action sequences. Certainly no worse than anything from Marvel. Ending was dire though. Way too Hollywood.

Because he put his untalented and ugly kid in it?

Because the film was a porker.

His son also ruined a film with Jackie Chan set in China. Why do they insist on ruining great and loved movies with <deleted> remakes.

I'll just wait for it to turn up on my TV box sometime in the near future then, no point in going to the cinema to see it and waste good money on a mediocre movie.

Right!  That film was a complete disappointment.  The son was suck-ers also.

It flopped because it was <deleted>. Thats all.

As a brilliant young co-worker I once had would put it "it sucks!"

Ask him why and you'll hear "it just does!"

As I said, brilliant.

Will "You gotta be givin' me some Oscars" Smith.  I think MIB was the last of his I saw.
