I think I read somewhere on this site, that IF you receive your better half's settlement visa then you will need to fly out within 28 days of receipt, is this true or am I just making it up?

The visa will be valid for 2 years and she can make the first entry at any time during its validity. However, should the first entry be delayed by longer than 28 days, it can have repercussions when applying for indefinite leave.
