Khao Yai National Park warns tourists not to spook wild elephants

Staff of Khao Yai National Park, which spans Nakhon Ratchasima, Prachin Buri, Saraburi and Nakhon Nayok provinces, have posted a list of do’s and don’ts on the park’s official facebook page and warned tourists who visit the Park during the winter season to beware of wild elephants, which are often seen walking across and along the roads.

U.S. GSP cut to cost less than US$1.3bn - Commerce Min

BANGKOK (NNT) - The United States recently announced the cancellation of Generalized System of Preferences benefits, which used to allow 573 items exported from Thailand to the US to be exempt of import duties. The Ministry of Commerce yesterday announced that the lack of this duty-free status will cost less than 1.3 billion US dollars, with some time available to negotiate for reconsideration by the U.S. after the ASEAN Summit in early November.

No-parking zones at Bali Hai have not caught on yet

PHUKET: The island’s fifth underpass, at the turnoff to Phuket International Airport on Theprkrasattri Rd, has been completed on time – including a four-month reprieve due to factors beyond the contractor’s control – and the project will be officially handed over by the contractor to the Phuket office of the Highways Department tomorrow (Oct 31).

Ministry sets up teams to help farmers cope with chemical ban

State organisations and teams have been tasked with coming up with guidelines to help farmers affected by the ban on three toxic pesticides, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Chalermchai Srion said on Wednesday.  The ministry’s permanent secretary will be getting in touch with the cultivators of sugarcane, cassava, oil palm, rubber, corn, and fruit orchards who were likely to be most affected by the ban.
