Heavy work, road closures Oct 28 – Nov 1

1365-N-Oct-28-01-PEA-roads-1.jpg

PATTAYA:--The city has announced that the Provincial Electricity Authority will be undergoing heavy construction Oct 28 – Nov 1 on Sukhumvit Road, Central Pattaya, Pattaya 3rd Road, and Bali Hai.

These roads may be closed during this time, and they are asking people to avoid them if at all possible.

The PEA will be digging holes and carving up the road surface to install conduits to bury utility lines in 6 locations: Sukhumvit Road in front of McDonalds, Central Pattaya Junction, Big C Extra, Pattaya 3rd Road, Pattaya Hospital, and at Bali Hai.

Construction will continue 24 hours a day, Monday thru Thursday, but cease at 5 pm (17.00) on Fridays to allow weekend traffic.

Oh joy. Luckily not right in my hood but I'm still expecting power closures. Practically every week where I live, annoying.

do they have to close all the roads at the same time

surely staging this work over several weeks and putting proper diversion in place would be the right way to approach this, but instead with the tiny brain attitude - look at us, we have the power to close all these roads and bring Pattaya to a stand still

if you have been along 3rd Road at all in the last few weeks you would have seen where they have been working - or where the big orange road dividers have been set up. They were there earlier between Lengkee and Klang in about 4 places.

Not sure it would be practical to actually fully close 3rd Rd. in that area - can you imagine routing all the buses and lorries via Soi Buakhow for example......

The reason they gave previously about multiple road closures and work areas was, they had been given a budget and had to use it all at once. TIT.

I expect they are also constrained by how the electrical system is laid out and minimizing the inconvenience of cutting supplies.

I don't think they are cutting supplies, they are laying cables and ducts for future connection

they have NO proper planning/strategy here....much better to have clogged up traffic causing drivers to become very frustrated !!!

Note to tourists avoid this World class resort; there is no water next year for showers despite the weekly floods!  No sand either, because of the weekly floods.
