Canadian PM will not attend Asean summit, cites internal affairs

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called Prime Minister, Prayut Chan-o-cha this morning to tell him he would be unable to attend the Asean summit being hosted by Thailand from today through November 4.

Trudeau will also skip next month’s Apec summit that was slated to be held in Chile but now looks likely to take place elsewhere as a result of the ongoing unrest.

Assistant Spokesperson to the Prime Minister's Office, Atisit Chainuwat revealed that Trudeau had called Prayut to apologise for missing the summer and explaining that he is busy shaping up his government following his recent election for a second term. He added that Prayut was understanding and congratulated Trudeau on his win.

Prayut also mentioned the direction of the Thailand-Canada relationship during the call. Canada is considering joining “Thailand-Plus-One” strategy and sub-regional cooperation. The leaders will further discuss this in the future.

He probably thinks long way to come for just talking to the airheads who run Thailand Be just  waste of time anyway. Least Trudeau was elected legally  Know anybody who came second and still is Pm?

What if you threw a party and nobody came.

Funny thing in Canada. The Conservative Part under Andrew Scheer actually won the popular vote.

(Didn’t we hear the same thing about Hillary in the U.S. 2016 election?)

Yet Trudeau still got back in, albeit with only a minority. So at least he can’t do much damage like before.

With the way Canadian politics is, and the way the house is split up now, it’s possible that another election could happen in only a few months from now.

You have to be kidding elected legaly. Ran the dirtiest illegal election in the history of Canada, hundreds of thousands voter cards mailed out to non citizens and bet they were all mailed to and used by his new refugees and border crossers. If Prayut wanted him here all he would have to do is say they were having a gay pride parade that he could march in or send him a picture of a hung ladyboy and he would be here in a flash, maybe not be able to get him to leave. Maybe good idea as many in Canada would be dancing and shouting with glee.

(1) The photo at the top says a lot ... the Canadian condescending, the Thai quizzical & astonished.

(2) Re Canadian election result, I take it that the outcome is because Canada has a first-past-the-post voting system? [If so, it's perfectly fair when you have only 2 or 2 major parties. But when there are 3 or more serious contenders (viz UK now), it is an extremely UNFAIR system.]

Only thing this jackass did right is legalize a substance that should never have been illegal in the first place. Other than that I really don't get why my fellow canucks are stooopid enough to reelect this pretty boy fils de pute.

to be fair he only got it half right. how does a drug dealer lose money ? haha the govt has botched the whole thing right from the start.

on another note i don't understand how he could possibly turn down an opportunity to visit thailand. he could dress up in traditional thai outfits and prance around like a nonce.

The Canadian voting system is similar to, but not exactly like, the U.S. Electoral College system.

Maybe how both Hillary Clinton in the U.S. election, and Andrew Scheer in the Canadian election...both got most of the popular vote numbers, and yet still lost their respective elections.

    Just a guess.

Trudeau will be attending a costume party and needs to determine who is next look alike be.  I am suggesting either Buckwheat from the little rascals or Kayne West.

Would love to know how that conversation went.

Nothing to do with the fact that Canada is geographically nowhere near South East Asia?

Why'd the Canadian wait till almost the last minute to cancel ?  His timing is insulting.

His whole premiership is insulting.

I think he organized his dicey election outcome JUST SO he would have an excuse not to attend more important matters here in Bangkok.

PM Trudeau did not want to lose his PM position so quick, as he would

have, by traipsing across the ocean to yet some event that Canada does not

need to be involved with. Mr. Nice hair,  Black face has enough future worries and

I hope he gets booted from the parliament sooner than later, by a nonconfidence vote.

  Geezer

It's not a substance, it's a plant that is getting legalized in most countries now. Thank god the Canadian people haven't forgotten the conservative debaucle they endured, and re- elected the liberals.

lest we forget!

Hail trudeau!

the conservative government in Ontario was all it took to remind the people what will happen if Mulroney would have got back in.

sheer, Mulroney, both rotten apples.

viva liberals!

Sure didn't take long for this thread to go off topic.
