Government Housing Bank inspector and acting director-general of the Real Estate Information Centre Vichai Viratkapan said this week that the recent signing of the high-speed train project linking three international airports will promote development in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) region and woo property firms to develop land plots around the planned train stations.

 

 

He expects developers in Rayong and Chachoemgsao to start promoting detached houses to serve executives who will move to work in the provinces and move away from the current focus on townhouses, which have been built to meet the demand from local residents and those working on the industrial estates. Land prices in the EEC area, which soared in the recent years, are now relatively stable, he noted, adding that he believed that landowners with large tracts will gradually put parcels of land on the market to profit from the business opportunities in the EEC. The average price of condominiums and houses in EEC provinces is currently higher than other provinces.

 

When the high-speed train’s construction is completed, and more tourists come to EEC provinces, investors will buy the condominiums and houses and rent them out, he said. This would push the prices higher.

 

The EEC zone covers the provinces of Rayong, Chon Buri, and Chacheongsao.

 

On October 24, the Charoen Pokphand-led consortium and the State Railway of Thailand signed the contract for the development of a high-speed railway linking Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok, Suvarnabhumi in Samut Prakan and U-tapao in Rayong.

The same people who always bear the losses for Thai Airways and the SRT. One thing for sure it won't be the CP Group.

The EEC is an industrial economic center for manufacturing and specialized services (ie., aerospace industry). It will likely develop into a bedroom community to support such industries with little or no antecedent historical or cultural significance nor geographical interest (except to view a failed agricultural industry due to the EEC overwhelming for its water).

Tourists who want the Thailand shopping mall, street vendors, canal markets and modern mass transportation experiences will stop far short of the EEC region.

Wrong the EEC is going to be a Sanctuary region full of sustainable connected smart cities and living communities based on best managed practices....It will have many greenways based on local environmental initiatives..It will have vibrant communities based on UN vison protocol for metropolitan planning.....etc.....

 

The tourist will love the EEC.....If they dont love the EEC they will be sent re-education camps until they learn to love the EEC....All will love the EEC..or..... 

Bang Saray and Sattahip are overflowing with unsold properties already, can't even give them away....same houses and land on market for years....just who is gonna buy all these new houses...

I can't see Thai people using a high speed train.  Unless they use 3-tier pricing--Thai, Chinese, and farang.
