There is an Attorney in Nong Khia in the past and I found her to be very good, work with nothing but farrangs and won't sell you out.

I had to have my signature notarized on a document for the states, so I touhgt I wa looking at a trip to Bangkok and the embassy.

Turns out she licensed a wella Notary speciically and registerd with all the foriegn embassies in Thailnad, No cheap but cheaper the a trip to Bangkok and a lot less hassle.

An interesing thing happened in this process as well. The letter that had to have the signature notarized on was a very simple document saying that I was still alive. From my retirement group.

It said that my bank here could do the same thing. So I tried to have it done at my Branch of the Bangkok Bank, the main branch here in Udon. They refused to do it after confirming with Bangkok.

My first reaction what the heck is wrong with these people they are my bank and have been for over four years. The money generated from the retirement goes into thier bank. A simple thing to have done in the states.

But the more I think about it, how many shady things these banks must put up with from foriegners trying to shape the system the way they want it. In the end I couldn't really blame them.

But I also think it is a sad state of affairs that you can't develop a good working relationhip with your bank here.
