It's now about a week since the onset of the O-A visa insurance rule, and what do we know about how, and against whom, it's being enforced?

As best as I can tell from reading all the various reports here so far, the following picture seems to be emerging:

--new O-A visas issued by Embassies and Consulates outside Thailand from Oct. 31 onward are requiring proof of insurance, as the rule itself is clear about.

--although there have been some reported exceptions, there have been multiple reports here of people with O-A visas issued BEFORE Oct. 31 entering Thailand AFTER Oct. 31 and being told they need to have insurance.

--regarding people with past O-A visas who now are on retirement extensions of stay, there have been multiple reports here from members being told by various Immigration offices that they WILL be required to show insurance at their future extension of stay applications as long as those tie back to a prior O-A visa.

Any further/better news/info on these subjects, please update it here!

It would be nice to have one thread where people encountering specific O-A insurance decisions by Immigration can report on their encounters and results....

@SpokaneAl was one of the exceptions I was referring to above, in that he arrived Oct. 31 on a prior O-A visa and was let in without any required insurance.

I was hopeful at the time that his experience meant Immigration was not going to apply the insurance requirement against prior O-A visa holders. But then in the wake of Al's report in later days, there have been several other prior O-A visa holders who have posted they were told they needed insurance upon arrival.

The trend of more recent reports seems to be going in that direction.  But of course, no official clarification from Immigration on any of this....
