It is without doubt that the Scotts will tell Boris what he can do.

Many will - just as many will tell dear leader Sturgeon what she can do.

Was there ever a better argument for Scottish independence?!

  • You are right not all Scots want independence but if 52% vote for it, it may well happen.  The last Scottish Referendum didn't have us at the point of leaving the EU.  This may sway enough Scots to ge

That's your opinion.

And how is that different from any other politician?

Probably because the option is no longer viable. Labour aren't the center left socialist option for working people any more. They're far left extremists who want to break up the UK, flood it with immigrants, change its culture and traditions beyond recognition and impose state control on everything. Of course some people will be more equal than others in their little utopia! Orwell must be smiling in his grave!

well,

if you classify the UK Labour party as far left extremists you are just completely out of touch with European politics

Just because you don't like Johnson, Brexit and the UK isn't a good argument.

Seems perfectly reasonable to me, although my order of importance would be reversed.

But the country next door says no.

Exactly. The UK is supposed to be a union within a union and no other union in the world holds referendums across member states as a single electorate.

In a truly democratic union the ballot paper as it stood would only have applied to England, the ballot paper for the devolved nations should have been to the effect that in the event of a vote to leave the EU did they want to remain in the UK, or not.

How would that work with only one currency, controlled by the bank of E.........?

You should perhaps read a little of the history of that currency and the part the Scotts played in saving it when the English thought it a good idea to print as much of the stuff as they pleased.

It's pretty easy for Scotland to adopt the Euro and if Ireland reunites they are already using the euro anyway.

And that has to do with how a referendum is conducted, how exactly?

More tangents than a fruit stall.

Don,t think Europe would want Scotland as a member,Spain  would be the first country to veto a vote on their membership what with the Basques and Catalonia wanting independence,

Says it all.

Catalonia is an autonomous community of Spain so it would appear that Scotland is perceived as an autonomous community of England.

It was a lack of attention to detail that got us into this mess.

Malta gained its independence from the UK and became part of the EU, as did Cyprus and Ireland.

The EU has a history of accepting countries previously ruled by England. Do some homework before spreading the BS.

agree, (you could skip the UK bit), EU has a history of accepting European countries

refusing Scotland membership would be close to impossible for EU,

Spain might be against but they would quite simply be pressed, hard, until they accept

cannot continue with EU if refusing democratic/peaceful countries smack in Europe

no, English is not my first language, I am one of these foreigners

but I can count to 10 and I don't call 'em sepratists - those guys on the peninsula

3 council by-elections this week in Scotland. Council elections use Single Transferable Vote so a first and second choice which makes for interesting analysis:

1) Rosyth

First preference - SNP lead with 42.8%

After 6 stages, SNP win with 52% (SNP hold)

2) Dunfermline

First preference - SNP lead with 33.2%

After 5 stages, SNP win with 39.1% - worth noting that the Lib Dems ended up on 39.0% or only 2 votes behind (SNP gain from the Tories)

3) Inverness Central - count underway

Inverness Central result in:

First preference - SNP lead with 45.2%

After 3 stages, SNP win with 49.6% (SNP hold)

SNP share of the first preference votes rose 12.3% on the last election in 2017; Tories up 2.9% to 15.3%, LD up 6% to 10.5% and most shocking of all, Labour down 10% to 6.9%.

They gained their independence before the eu was started if there was a prize for  a BS  statement yours would take some beating.

With a 'ruled by England' to boot! ????

Why is this relevant? Sandyf is presenting examples of small countries that have gained independence from the UK and thrived as a result, despite the desperate Project Fear attempts by Westminster to cow the locals into accepting ongoing subservience.

Trying to dodge what you claimed in the beginning, and it may come as a surprise but it is irrelevant what you think.
