Is hosing the streets down such a good idea when there is a drought?

Ah that would take some forward planning to factor in how to clean up without wasting water, seems to be a favourite pastime for many.

Tried to enquire about grey water recycling system, was looked at as though I really was an alien, from another planett

Non-stop comedy! lets make the biggest sewer practically in all of SEA and make it into a green paradise! Why not start with a town where that is remotely achievable and go from there?

WHEN was it ever a "tourist paradise?"

I think the last year was 2005.  Steadily downhill by almost every objective measure since then.

Why do you think it says you are an "Alien" on official Thai documents?  ????

I have seen street sweeper trucks in western countries with brushes and vacuum, but I guess a truck spraying water is cheaper.

Throw out the sex tourists and promote all the girls to Mamasan.

Major employment and economic stimulus ( no pun intended), getting rid of the working women would further impoverish local landlords and traders.

Perhaps legalise and place regulations on the industry for protection of workers and consumers

Is it fresh water? Could be sea water.

Big drought next year- could be a good thing if it keeps the masses away.

Back in the 90s they had to truck water in for the hotels, and the population was a fraction of now. Get back to the population of the 90s and it might even get back to how it was then- cheap and cheerful, hurrah.

Good point.  I don't know if it's fresh water or sea water.

You would think they wouldn't use sea water as it would corrode the machinery.

I haven't seen any salt residue on the roadways, but that might be hard to spot.

If they are using sea water, not good for the motor vehicles following.

What's your point ?

Isn't Bang Saen about 40 km of Pattaya ? :ermm:

Here is a pic taken today at less than 3 km of Walking Street Pattaya :

Cristal water and even little fishes (hard to see)

You might call them weeds sir, but perhaps they form part of the Green and Pleasant.  ????

There's no such thing as a weed it's just a plant in the wrong place.

No natural disaster, or epidemic, for Thailand to blame this time.

This coming high season will be interesting.

Actualy the tourists are back in Pattaya

not a huge crowd however, and most are indians

some places are doing pretty good (Bukkhao area)

but some others (Like walking street) are clearly dying

and the beach is deserted most of the time.

Positive development! At least there is awareness that you have to put your best foot forward to attract tourists. Sure, the execution may be lacking but it's a start.

Sadly, this awareness is sadly missing where I live: Chiang Mai.

I agree....around Buakhao , LKM early evening Wednesday very busy. Quite busy around Walking St later on though. Even in-doors at some places.
