Popular Post webfact
Mercedes Benz driver gives ambulance the finger after refusing to get out of the way Picture Daily News Relatives of a sick person in an ambulance with its siren wailing called it "unbelievable" after a Mercedes Benz driver refused to get out of the way for their ambulance. Then the driver gave them a middle finger salute before driving off the expressway. Thai media has called for action to stop a problem that seems to be increasing. Pathetic fines of 500 baht for those with million baht vehicles are seen as no deterrent at all. This case is one of many in recent years but is made all the worse by the entitled driver displaying a rude gesture. A video of the incident was posted to Facebook. An ambulance was on its way between Phyathai 2 and Phyathai Hospital (Sri Racha) on Saturday. Driver Warut said that everyone else on the road had got out of the way. But the Benz driver did not. He seemed to be being deliberately difficult before he left the road at speed. Thai caption: Still more and more A relative of the patient who was in the ambulance slammed the driver as "unbelievably inconsiderate". Daily News said that fines of 500 baht were useless - you needed millions of baht to buy a vehicles such as this so paying a few hundred baht was no deterrent at all. Even if they faced a fine at all. They suggested it was time that fines and prosecutions increase. The problem was only getting worse and Thailand was too soft on transgressors. The video clearly showed the licence plate of the car. A leading lawyer called Decha said that in this case the driver could be prosecuted for being insulting in public. That could lead to them being jailed for a month or face a 10,000 baht fine or both. He called for the police to issue a summons immediately. Popular Post Just1Voice
Years ago, back in Indiana, where a person died in an ambulance, when some Benz driver refused to yield, they quickly passed, and STRICTLY enforced a new law. Refuse to yield for ANY emergency vehicle and their dash cam will get your license plate number, and within 24 hours you will be in jail, with NO BOND, and an automatic $10,000 fine, loss of license for one year, and 30 days in jail - No matter WHO you are 49
Popular Post mercman24
the law says a month in jail, WELL CARRY IT OUT THEN ,none of this *i am so sorry <deleted>* they need a shock to their system. that will teach this pos a lesson, as said before one day it might be him in an ambulance, and the way these merc drivers think they own the road, it wont be very long , forget the fine,as this is nothing to them, let it be known from now on, its a few weeks in the cooler, they will think twice then 17
Popular Post silverhawk_usa
I agree this is ridiculous and needs to be punished. BUT; the emergency vehicles here only exacerbate the problem when they drive around at low speeds, and for many non emergencies, with their lights flashing. I was passed on a main road by two pickup trucks with fully geared SWAT team in the back. Yes, the vehicles said SWAT team. I passed them back when they stopped on the side of the road at noodle stand. 5 1

Prince77
That "Driver" disqualifies himself of being mature enough to drive a car. His license should be taken for at least 3 month. Let him walk, maybe fresh air is good for his brain.

Apart from that he is also suffering from the smallest d*ickus syndrome, exaggerated by the fact that he owns a Benz, and the I am rich and can do what I like disease. I think that all drivers of emergency vehicles should be exempt from prosecution for running <deleted> like the Benz driver off the road. Emergency vehicles need front and rear 'roo bars fitted. Matzzon
No fine needed. There is a better way to take care of this scum. Show the numberplate, his name, address and all his businesses online. That would probably lead to some extensive losses that he really deserve.

And what have SWAT teams got to do with this?
Popular Post holy cow cm
In the video a woman can be heard saying: It is not a Thai person... Or not? So tells you the attitude as it is always a foreigner. I would figure Bangkok Thai drivers meet this criteria all of the time of being rude and over headstrong, especially in a SUV or million baht car.

There is a HUGE grey area - body snatchers at work? differentiating between body snatchers and "legitimate "emergency" vehicles is near impossible, anyone that has been here any length of time knows that "ambulances" are a relatively new addition to the roads here, your not at home now folks, your trying to apply the same rules and logic in a place that the rules have never existed until recently.
