They sellout all their home game tickets but that is only about 15 or 16 thousand.

After running up a record twenty something games undefeated they went the next four not winning one. Expectations are still high though. 28k at Hillsborough for Saturday's draw with Lincoln. Unfortunately, the sudden rise of Ipswich make automatic promotion - that once seemed a formality - in doubt. And to make things worse, the other lot - the red and whites striped lot - are on fire, and could easily make it into the EPL. Just a lack of quality available now we're losing players to injury, it's that simple. As far as the unmentionables go, I look forward to see their batterings next season.????

Daughter wants to ho to Sth Korea; and aint got any dosh. Mother sick - and ordinarily that would bring the family closer - but she has to have 24/7 caring. Who is doing the caring? Some conflict there. Also, I think getting the pick-up through the MoT, and taxed, without consulting her, was like a slap in the face with a wet nin to her. What that means in effect, is that the pick-up is good to go, for another 12 months. She had her heart set on a new car; a leccy one even. Perhaps it's me that needs the Counselling Owl. The wife just wants her own way. And a few million baht to waste on hand-bags would do nicely. Edited April 4, 2023 by owl sees all 1

Ipswich are on fire though, and the game at Wembley for Plymouth, must have been a big distraction for them; in their push for the Championship. Even f they are a little short on quality, they should have seen off Lincoln and Forest Green Just as a side-note, who gets the better of the Sheffield derby, when they do meet? Just looked it up; met 131 times, with United winning 46 games and Wednesday winning 42. So very close.
Popular Post Andrew Dwyer
My sil planned to go work in S Korea late last year, but a lot of reports of Thais being refused entry so she had a rethink. I was married for 27 years to my first Thai wife, but it was me who was unhappy with how things were going rather than the wife complaining about everything, but I just couldn't up and leave so just stuck it out. Then our daughter died (she had severe cerebral palsy), so no longer any reason to stay in the unhappy relationship as my son was in his early twenties then and could look after himself. But I still stuck it out as my wife went into depression at the loss of our daughter and I just couldn't leave her like that (living hell for me though). Finally she came out of depression after about 2 years, only to be diagnosed with cancer and die 2 years after that. So I did finally get my freedom and like you I am now a farang in Isaan, but what a journey to get here. Having said that, I did not have the wool pulled over my eyes that often as I do speak the lingo. 5

Popular Post owl sees all
Owl Log - 09-04-2023 - Sunday afternoon A bit annoyed with myself last week. On the way to Ban Dung with the Mrs on Monday, I overtook a tractor being towed by a pick-up. I wanted to stop for a pic, but Mrs Owl would have none of it. Opportunity for a quirky pic lost. Noi's hubby out of hospital. Although still very sore from falling off the roof, he thought that he would do better looking after himself at the farm. Not yet started the roof repair. Have everything ready; just enthusiasm missing. Mrs Owl don't like the colour. "Not same colour!" Said she. Make her right there. They will go just on the edge, where the others have slipped. Interesting at the farm. Chai is building a really professional charcoal unit. Not at all sure how it all works. Wood at the ready. Next thing; stack the wood. Cover the wood with straw, and make up lots of mud. And then I guess it's just plonk the mud around the stacked wood. I'll have a butchers later today, when we come back from Ban Dung. Bought two plastic units from Big C and swapped them for the worn-out one. Mrs Owl took control of the old one. A bowl for the dogs to get into; if they get a little hot. Mildred showed that it was also useful for her. She was not the only one getting a soaking. Little lad from opposite. It was bl@ddy hot last week. Well over 40C for four days on the trot. There was an emergency at the farm with a fire. It had cut loose and threatened our palms in number three. It was all hands on deck for a while. Good job there was no breeze; or we could have been on o loser. No problem for our farm, but one farmer quite close to us 'lost' 5 rai of oil palms. I'll get along there in a day or so and get a pic or two. Every day Mrs Owl sweeps up the leaves and fallen fruit from the yard. Then it's my job to take it all to the farm and chuck it onto the future rice field. Ten sacks in all. Drag them out into the field. Empty the goodies. A couple of huts were demolished down our village soi. This area is something of a mystery. Don't know what they are gonna get up to next. This extreme heat has finished off my avo. Been looking after it for 18 month. But!! think it's on the way out. No amount of watering seems to help it. At the house, some avoes have kicked the bucket also. Still got a couple though. If the farm one don't perk up, when (if) the rains start, I'll replace it. This is the lowest water level I've seen at pond 8, since it was dug out 14 years ago. This is the only pond that is subject to the water table. No use moaning; but it was over-cast virtually all afternoon yesterday. A thunder rumble or two in the distance. But no wet stuff. Dear me! This is chronic. Washing machine giving problems. When it starts up, the water flows, but it goes straight through. Gonna take it to Ban Dung when we go. Could use the spare; Nan's old one. We will see what transpires. Washing by hand for a while. Good job Mildred is off school at the mo. Played two games of chess with Mildred on Wednesday; 1-1. Specia1 monk in our area last week. Evidently he walks from district to district preaching the way of Buddha. Mrs Owl went to see him with her mate at three in the morning. Hundreds of people there even at that time AM. Later (Saturday), he was due to walk to Kham Cha Nod. He addressed his followers with just two simple messages. Two don'ts. Don't be greedy. Don't envy those who have everything.. Andrew Dwyer
@owl sees all Try looking at the drainage pipe of your washing machine, if it is like ours and the mils ( a twin tub type ) occasionally some thread or fluff will go through and stop the spring loaded plunger from closing properly and the water drains away. The drainage pipe should be held on with a fancy clip and easily removed, stick your finger in there you might be able to reach the blockage, the mil’s was a safety pin one time !! If not, the back panel can be removed, a couple of screws and some plastic clips , you can then pull on the cord which lifts the plunger and by pulling it further than the drain setting on the knob will probably lift the plunger up more and the blockage will clear itself. If of course you don’t have a twin tub type have a look round the back, the problem will be similar I’m sure.

But that is the exception. When I've been going up and down the soi picking up rubbish, I can feel the heat. Only stay shirtless for 30 minutes max. Easy to do now, as it's just a maintenance job. When I first started, about 2 months ago, I'd fill up a sack with rubbish. The other day - when I went into the next soi - twins Nadia and Nadine, and their little friend - were helping. Picking up little bits and popping them into the sack. I went to Guy's shop and got them an ice-cream each. We must know about the DIY project Andy. Spill the beans; why don't you! My DIY stuff has dwindled down to zero. Not over exciting so be warned. Where I live, moobahn in Ayutthaya, the water pressure has always been p1ss poor so necessitates a pump and tank. During Sat and Sun the water usually doesn’t come ( or the pressure isn’t strong enough to make it up into the tank ) until night time so activities like watering the garden and washing the car have to be avoided, just lately the lack of water during the day is happening all week long. We have a couple of emergency showers ( dustbins ), one inside and one outside, for when the power is off or water totally dries up but what i really need is more storage. Still with me ? My tank is only 700 litres but where it’s positioned is not possible to fit larger so I bought another 700 litre tank and will locate it nearby and connect the two together with some pvc pipe. Got my regular “ Jack of all trades “ ( should rename him “ any job done badly “ ) to weld up a stand for the new tank. So my input is quite small, adjust the legs of the new stand so the tank is vertical, prime and paint the stand and do the pipework to join the tanks together. Not a big project …. but you did ask ????

If an underwater reservoir dries up, where does the village get its water from? Can see a water-tanker or two flying about soon. We don't realise how precious water is. We just take it for granted. It's not until it's unavailable that people then see just how difficult it is without it on tap, or down the well. Songram is soon with us. Water everywhere then. I've been considering giving some of my Mekong catfish to the local temple. They have grown well; in fact very well. The biggest two are over 1.4 metres long and all over one metre. I have 19, and they dominate the other fish at feeding time. If I could get some muscle on the job, for the catching, I reckon I could donate 9. I did have some feeding posts, that just needed old fruit and veg' to get maggots for free. I'm thinking of putting in a few to cut down on the cost of feed. When I do eventually stock with fingerlings, I'll put the automated feeding stations in all ponds. The big mekongs are in pond #5 (from the left). The lady next to us didn't plant rice this year. She planted rosella. I knew it as sorrel in the Caribbean. Very nice drink. She is harvesting at the moment and is getting 100 baht a kilo for dry. Many TV (then) members telling truths about their lives in Thailand. Mrs Owl has a problem; that's for sure. Many problems it seems. The biggest one is me. "What am I doing that you don't like teerak?" "I fed up with you. Take picture all the time. People in village hate you. I am shy people. Want to finish. Sell farm. You must go away from me." Don't want to give the impression that life in the village is purgatory. No. Far from it. I love my life here. And perhaps Mrs Owl knowing that, is part of the problem. Don't want farang Owl to be happy. Especially when he is not coming over with the dosh, that a farang wife expects. Ah yes! Money! No! Barking up the wrong tree there perhaps?. Mrs Owl thinking about money? She's not like that???? Have to face the facts of life; it's all my doing. I'm bad! The enlightened monk she went to see t'other morning, had a profound effect on the wife; for a day or so. No envy. No greed. No material wants. Then it drifted back to normality. Great life here in Thailand. 3 1

I hope Mrs Owl can pull her head in for a couple of years for Mildred’s sake. Big hugs Owl xo I have always bitten my tongue on this, despite feeling Owl was being treated poorly by the missus. But as no one really knows the situation better than the people directly involved, I thought it best that I focus on the good stuff.

The biggest one is me. "What am I doing that you don't like teerak?" "I fed up with you. Take picture all the time. People in village hate you. I am shy people. Want to finish. Sell farm. You must go away from me." I borrowed this from the Worst Jokes section. It seems appropriate. Good luck Owl. 1

Could be her age proving to be responsible for the irrational behaviour. But, there is only a small change from when we first got together. Have to face facts. It's me. I'm bad. A no-good farang. The fact that the whole village hates me, is evidence enough. I have tightened the pure-strings of late. And her daughter, Nan, keeps nagging about going to Sth Korea; and has no dosh. A few days ago she found 1500 baht (one draw) of lottery tickets for December last year. Didn't go down well that. Called me all sorts. Until I pointed out that they were bought by her and hidden away. All losers of course. Have to have a talk to Mildred about the weather. If we do not get serious rain by the end of this month, we have to start pumping from one pond to another. I think she will agree to sacrifice pond one. But that has some wonderful big snails in it. Perhaps pond two will have to go. Not critical at the mo. But have to be prepared. Rain where are you? In other words; whatever some men say or do, they are in for it. I am aware that there is a good reason for women often saying bad things to us. Basically it goes back to the old days when we would whack a nice bit if stuff over the head, and drag them off to our cave. Later, when she woke up with a head-ache, she would complain that there was no paracetamol. Would never hear the end of it. Things just the same now.
