Phuket will host the Thailand Travel Mart Plus 2020 (TTM+2020), the Tourism Authority of Thailand confirmed earlier this week.

Tourism entrepreneurs in Phuket had been concerned about rumours that Phuket will not be chosen to hold the event after an announcement on the TTM+2020 website, which previously stated that the event would be held in Phuket, disappeared from the website.

“Phuket is still listed as one of the venues to hold TTM+2020 without any changes,” Kanokkittika Kritwutikon, director of TAT, Phuket Office, said on Tuesday (November 19).

“The event is scheduled to take place from June 1 to 3 next year, and is tentatively expected to take place in Karon district.”

The TAT's Phuket Office director expects that at least 400 buyers worldwide will attend this event to negotiate on business with Thai tourism entrepreneurs nationwide, while TAT overseas offices will invite travel agencies and the media to attend the event.

“This event will help in stimulating the country’s tourism, upgrading Thai tourism to international standards, presenting new tourist attractions and tourism services, as well as negotiating with buyers worldwide,” she said.

In recent years, the TTM+ event has been held in Chiang Mai in 2016 and 2017 before moving to Pattaya, Chonburi province, in 2018 and 2019.
