Thai caption: Grab attack taxi drivers

Police were called to a taxi rank for tourists on the Sor Thor Ror Hill (the Office of the Central Civil-Reservation) last night around 10.30 pm after reports of a brawl.

Drivers there said that 10 Grab drivers had attacked them causing minor injuries.

The complainants were two taxi drivers aged 35 and 50 and a motorcycle taxi rider aged 35.

They filed a formal complaint with the Pattaya police.

You never see shopkeepers on a road selling the same stuff/services attacking each other. Why is this?  Curious.

Call me cynical but I wonder what Grab drivers would have to gain by doing that.

The regular taxi guys are the ones with the track record for violence while the Grab guys are starting out and have no official protection as of yet

I miss Uber.

Sounds a bit odd if true, but if it is, then fair play to the Grab lads for standing up for themselves. It’s usually the taxi/motorbike taxis doing the harassing of the competition, the Grab lads were probably just returning the compliment.

In Bangkok, over the last year I have noticed a massive increase in Grab/LalaMove/Line etc riders.

I wonder if the balance of numbers, and therefore power, has finally shifted...

Revenge attack?

Heaven knows, I recently booked a Grab car and it was a regular taxi when it turned up!

Police are investigating why none of the taximeters work within City limits.  The report will be published during the next blizzard.

Eh?

It was in the news just a few days ago about a food vendor attacking another one with a machete.

Before that it was a family of market sellers attacking one that moved in.

Stop fighting its high season with hoards of farangs with money to burn ????
