will they automatically extend as well?

No

Wait until your licence has expired ( 1 or 2 days)  then go get a "certificate of residence" from your new  immigration office and then to the new DLT to renew your licence.

Problem is that I'm leaving Thailand for extended period of time...  Any way to get this done, Eg, "lose" my license, show up in new district saying lost license from old district, and somehow get a new one with an extended date? Sounds crazy, I know... Just trying to figure someway to avoid having to go through all the Moto and Car tests when return....

You can renew the licence without having to do the whole test  again   upto a year after  expiry date.

if you have a licence from your home country then you can "convert" to a Thai licence without doing the whole test.

Not sure if your "lost" licence scheme will result in extended time or not ..as I've never tried that ????

Okay. I see. Great info. Thought it was like one month grace. 1 year is great. Then maybe won't worry about it.

In CNX you can renew your DL 90 days in advance.

Other provinces - ??? as I don't live there for years

Ah. Great. So maybe I will give that a go then. My license is Lamphun, but I don't have residency certificate for there any more.

Is a residency certificate needed for renewal?
