The application fee for Schengen visa will go up from 60 euros (Bt2,040) to €80 (Bt2,720) from February 2, Tour Outbound Co Ltd reported on Friday (December 20).

The new price excludes the additional fee levied by the travel agency of Bt800 per visa.

The new rate will be applicable for all 26 members of the Schengen group. Those who frequently travel in and out of Schengen countries and have a clean travel record can apply for a visa for a maximum period of 5 years. Furthermore, when the new rate becomes effective, travellers can apply for a visa up to six months in advance (from the previous three months).

The company added that visa applications can be made online using electronic signature, but must be completed at least 15 days before the date of departure and applicants must have valid travel insurance covering the entire period of their first trip.

The 26 countries in the Schengen group are: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Lucky for my wife and son the visa is free...

Odd that the article shows a photo of Turkey!
