Hi

I know this is nothing to do with Isaan or even thailand, but sometimes it's good to have some brain storms,, and few of the TV member's are from this country where i took this picture from, and remember i work at the cruise ship so there is access from the sea.

I have to say that it was fantastic day.

Hey Marco,

Nice shots of "Seven Sisters". I envy your travels sometimes, even if they sometimes only result in a photo now and again.

Enjoy the heat over there. It was still down to 3c last night, but clear skies.

It's Lerwick in the Shetlands, but HOW is that England?

You wasn't on " The Queen of Sweden" was you? It sunk there in 1745

Indeed it's Lerwick and pardon me to be FINNISH but i thought Scotland belong to Beautifull island of England (United Kingdom) even been independednt country? Dos it? i maybe wrong but it is really nice place and ppl where really nice.

We do stop there every year, this time it was nice clowdy bit rainy (normal) Scot weather.

I am quite happy with the arrangement, but you try telling a Scotsman his country is part of England. I suppose it's a bit like telling you Karelia is part of Russia. :o

Scotland was once quite independent, with their own Kings and Queens. Google Culloden to see how it ended.

It's quite common for people to use England when they really mean Great Britain or the United Kingdom. I suppose part of the confusion is that the Queen is still called the Queen of England when in fact she is Queen of a LOT more.

Now, I'm a Yank, so I may have it wrong, but I'll try. Great Britain is England, Scotland, and Wales. The United Kingdom is England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. It once included all of Ireland, but the Irish didn't like being under the English Crown any more than the Scots did. The advantage the Irish had over the Scots in their resistance was the same one the US had, the difficulty of transporting troops the distance to fight the rebellion, and the English soldiers fighting on "foreign" soil. Scotland was just too close, and geographically contiguous with England. Their resistance really never had a chance.

As has been said..

Great Britain = England, Wales and Scotland

United Kingdom = England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland - The correct title being "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland"
