I have one further question regarding the documentation rquired by UK Immigration when applying for a Standard Visitors Visa.

The Check list states ' Evidence of Family remaining in your home country whilst you travel:

By family do they mean immediate family i.e Mother daughter/son.   As for 'Evidence' will ID card and house book suffice appropriately translated and certified.  Are Pics necessary.

I thought getting an extension to my retirement was a pain, but this is far more bureaucratic and time consuming.  I won't ever complain about the Thai Immigration process in future.

To cap it all VFS global website is having technical difficulties and applications for UK visitor visas are at a standstill and VFS appear to be doing nothing to remedy the situation,

Time methinks for the UK Government to ditch VFS in view of the many complaints I am told have been received regarding their total lack of customer service, which I can reinforce as I am still waiting for a reply to an email I sent to their 'Customer Service"  plus a wasted expensive telephone call to the London number regarding the technical problems.

Umm, I think you are trying to break the record for the number of nonsence posts by a newbie. Get all you questions together in 1 thread or pm @theoldgit and you might get some sensible replies.
