UK plans to introduce border controls on EU goods after post-Brexit transition

It's almost funny when the Brexiters think about the consequences for the EU.

Here is a hint: Soon you won't think about the consequences for the EU anymore because you will be too busy with all the consequences in the UK from taking back control. ????

In reality Brexiteers don't give two hoots about the EU, all the naysayers just happen to be remainers and Eumainers with the odd antipodean throw in.

Maybe have look at this interesting article and maybe think again:

Boris Johnson’s hard line on trade could sink the UK’s fishing fleet

The sort of minimal deal he is after would be a disaster for an industry that relies on frictionless trade

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/feb/09/boris-johnson-trade-uk-fishing-fleet-industry

Really interesting. The expected biased, slanted rot from Gardening Today:

John Lichfield is a journalist(?) based in France and he calls the gilets jaunes "lefties"! ????

I thought the whole point of being a Tory was to CUT the cost of doing business?

Ah well, it will just be passed on to consumers who will have to bear the cost of this. Less money in people’s pockets at the end of the day.

After so many years of socialism, you're not allowed to; really the massive and ever-expanding budgetary waistline of the NHS should be cut, but that would apparently be evil, according to lefties.

The cost of it, of course, will be passed onto every subsequent generation in taxes, skintifying them.

Not for much longer. Soon to be sold off to US health companies.

Just another Brexit benefit.

Blimey, they have advised you already ?

No wonder you are ahead of us in the information stakes.

You are sooooo superior, we are unworthy.

The fishing rights were sold and are owned by the foreigners who bought them, there rights of ownership are protected under UK laws.

Nobody in the UK is getting fishing rights back, or at least not unless they buy them.

"there"?!

I think you need to check yourself... fishing quotas are not permanent.

....  in higher prices for many items.

Be lucky that you have to pay for it, and enjoy it as you like the Brexit so much :cheesy:.

If the Germans like exporting to the UK, they may have to cut their costs to keep the prices down, if Barnier trashes German exports by failing to agree a deal.

Imaging you have free trade for decades and then someone introduces harsh border controls and they call it progress.

Someone should have mentioned that in 2016. How many people would have voted for that version of Brexit?

It's even worsen than that, Ireland and Scotland will still be in the EU (iirc) so they can still do free trades.

Will the UK also get border controls with those neighbours?

It has been well documented the US wants access to the NHS in order for an Anglo American trade deal to be struck.

But you already know that.

And Given Trump has just demonstrated how "special" the relationship is between the two countries by giving his lapdog Johnson the hairdryer treatment over the phone it bodes ill that any favourable trade deal for the UK will be signed.

But you guys want that because you all knew what you were voting for.

What a load of rubbish. There are huge foreseeable positives in Brexit for the next decade.

Based on what?! A customer of what? There's absolutely nothing meaningful or specific in that.

The EU isn't a country. It's Germany, plus a few other countries all with transnational corporations.

Most of the EU is plagued by high unemployment and sub-inflationary growth (i.e.: decline).

China desperately needs expertise in many areas, not least of which, in finance.

No, they already paid for the New Labour austerity repair programme; and with further reforms to de-NewLabourize Britain, they will benefit from the growth bonanza from new international trade deals, whilst Germany & Co. try to work out where to sell to if Britain ain't buying.

Absolute nonsense.

Detail some of the "huge forseeable positives".

And here I was thinking that it was the opinion and argument which mattered.

Given that there isn't much in the way of argument, there's not much to matter.

That some people place more weight on someone’s background, well that’s just.....strange. But predictable.

He said where they're from, not what they are, but you knew that, didn't you.

Are you playing the race card to shut down debate, or just trolling for cheap thrills?

Nobody voted for hard Brexit.

This is what the leave campaign was saying before the referendum.

They lied.

No that video is lying.

You have Dan Hannan saying it won't threaten our place in the single market, and the rest is about Norway and Switzerland.

Another lie is...

There's no such thing as a hard brexit, there is only brexit or no brexit, and people voted for brexit.

Well when multiple posters - over many many months - can’t help repeatedly making a big deal or taking cheap shots at my background then you do wonder...

Thing like this are BIG deal for them, life experience has shown.

They lied to you.

You guys simply refuse to see it.

Remain lied to you, and you simply refuse to see it. Why would you vote for your own economic future to be stolen from you by voting to remain in the EU?!

You sound a bit paranoid, tbh. If you want to make a show of your identity in public, it shouldn't be a surprise if it's referred to sometimes, but that's not what was happening here.

My kids are the same as you, and wouldn't encourage them to make a big show of it.
