Did your friends arrive via China? I'd imagine the temperatures are only taken of those from China. I'd want more arrivals checked but I doubt if ALL are checked, especially any coming via Europe. Thats a lot of airline revenue to take off the table as many europeans travel to Thailand via UAE Someone forgot to tell the airline, this is tonights Emirates flight from Bangkok to Dubai. They've requested that UAE citizens don't travel to Thailand.

Now there will be a big increase in numbers in the next few days, my opinion.

SpanishExpat
The problem is that at least 80% don`t even realize that they have the virus. They have no or very slight symptoms. From the remaining 20% not everyone goes to the hospital. Most prefer the spend 2-3 days in bed. So there are 100% more then those 40 cases. It can`t be contained in my opinion. The focus is rather to keep the severe cases low.

I self isolated for 14 days pretty much, but as of yesterday I've come down with a nasty cold, and I never really get colds. The language in https://ddc.moph.go.th/viralpneumonia/eng/file/guidelines/G_CPG_en.pdf and https://ddc.moph.go.th/viralpneumonia/eng/file/guidelines/guidelines-sur_en.pdf uses "reference laboratory", but the word "reference" is missing here: The only place I can find "reference" is in the WHO list. There's also an interesting bit of info there.. I can't find any numbers on the "Probable cases", ie. those that have tested positive in only one reference lab. There are so many catches in the process it's easy to keep cases in limbo indefinitely. And there's zero transparency into that now after they stopped publishing the backlog figures.
