This youtuber posted a video of himself working illegally in CM

Featured Replies

Good on him, shows Thailand in a good light. He is making and spending money here. He should invest in a new pair of shorts, he has outgrown the ones he was wearing.

Apart from that I envy him, wish I could get up at 5am, usually just going to bed <deleted>

Make a baby. It was rough in the beginning when he was waking me up at 5:30 but once I got drilled I started to be unable to sleep after 4-4:30...

Is he been paid  by the Chiang Mai tourist authority as he made it sound like heaven.

He did not mention any drawbacks especially  that Chiang  Mai  is now officially  the most air polluted city in the world.

Are you envious of what is inside the pants or do you covet  his youthful Australian sensuality?  It's ok, it 's 2020 and we won't judge you for a man crush.

Once you got drilled.......................  oh my.............

Well he is clearly working in thailand....this is why the immigration makes it so hard for us to get a visa, they don't want us to work in thailand. But now they know where to find him/them so they can stop with treating us all like criminals.

One of the regulars was a former Microsoft employee. This guy was everything these ‘digital nomads’ dream about and never are. Retired with stock by forty, traveling & hacking code. He worked with former MS coworkers who did spot jobs for small business’s back in the US. Sent via internet, payments received in US bank accounts. What could go wrong? Obviously he did not need the money he did it because, well, he liked it.

The story goes he eventually spent a week being harassed by the BIB/IO. They seized his passport and had him on ice so to speak. Someone was nice enough to tell him to get a Thai lawyer and shut up. Which he did and it all blew over, there was no way the local BIB could tap into the cash and nebulous nature of the crime. BTW he never ever will step foot in this cursed land again and will tell you so.

One FACT to remember about this long forgotten incident. The BIB or Immigration, never found out about him on their own. Nor did local Thais report him.  No, he was reported to Immigration/Police by an expat. Jesus wept! Even back then something about a person working in Thailand drives a subgroup of the Expat Brigade wild, into a frenzy, tearing at their hair and gnashing their teeth. Crazy, yep, but read the posts here, you know it’s true.

Keep your own business, your business. Don’t spill your guts to old Nose Hair Bob at the Amsterdam Bar. He is not your friend. Seems obvious but there you be.

I wouldn't wear them in Iran.

I think you are watching the wrong YouTube channels. Most of the successful online entrepreneurs have special skills and are hard working. They won't sell their business secrets even if it was possible. What you are referring to is not new and already existed in newspapers ads long time ago.

More missionarys actually have skills than these clowns.  Seen quite a few selling SEO, which is mostly a scam, too.  People claim they can outsmart Google?  There may be a few tips, tricks, and traps just like Microsoft, but there are no keys to the kingdom.  They also prey on the undereducated, just like the TEFL schools...no degree?  NNES?  you can be a teacher...Can't write a Hello World Program?  Couldnt pass Algebra?  Take my course, and you can be a highly paid computer expert.  Most of the clowns will admit that there is little work being done at Punspace.  Why on Earth would you rent a home, choose from five different fast and cheap ISPs, then pay good money to basically sit with backpackers on a pipe dream?  Unless of course, you are looking for followers and victims.  They also admit, the people that actually are in sustainable online work want nothing to do with these people, and kind of stay to themselves.  And notice how little most of them have saved..people coming to CM from the West to live the dream and build passive income, but they don't even have a couple of months expenses saved.

A relative works remotely for their British company, all computer based and is on over 200k GBP P/A.

As has been established repeatedly, the Thai authorities only care about westerners taking actual jobs in Thailand, or selling their services within Thailand. If you are working remotely on your own business, or for clients outside Thailand, they could not care less. There is nothing new about this, travelers have been doing this since long before the Internet existed. All that is new is that losers who have made poor career and financial decisions in their life are more frequently reminded of that.

The Thai authorities particularly love guys like this who have money and spend just a couple of months at a time in Thailand. This guy will never get grilled by the airport IOs or told he is spending too long in Thailand, because he is actually making enough money to be a nomadic digital nomad.

Uh yeah they tell us. They don’t care how much we make unless we buy an elite visa. At that point yeah they don’t bother you further.

Funny that the same lady that told me that was my last entry into Thailand when I was in a tourist visa 5 months, was the one who approved my elite visa and escorted me through fast queue lolol. She was happy to make me the visa, I was laughing my ass that her attitude changed 180 degree but ofc didn’t tell her. I’m still here 4 years later so... guess she wasn’t right.

Like I said I dont deny those YouTuber exist but they are not the one making good money. Maybe you missed my post edit for an example.

And is likely not a part of a pyramid scheme promoting easy income, and has a lot of tenure or is highly skilled...or both.

Reread..Thai visa is a successful business.  But there are many other, Thai specific, that we have all heard of that are laughable, and then there is ajarnforum that simply dissolved.  Udonmap is worth 15000 and generates 49 us per day...in revenue..with two or more full time employees.  Tielandtothailand even less.  Both are professional sites, with many hours put in them, and unlike the nomads, they have something they can show, but I don't think my local now maybe guy place could operate on that little revenue.

Please explain in detail what a "washed up retiree" is, please.

You just ignored the example (and there is plenty) of a successful YouTuber that doesnt sell how to become rich yesterday guide. It's not with your kind of attitude that you can find success online. Like they say: "stay poor". Making a website in my opinion is probably one of the most difficult and least creative way to make money online.

Nice to see a youngster with a positive sight on the place he decided to be and work. There are more than enough grumpy frustrated old men around.

I responded before I saw the YouTuber link.  The Mellineals are in denial about the simple fact that you need money to make money.  Been trading online since before Windows 3, was released.  A local, illegal English teacher asked me to show him my secrets and help him.  Well, first thing you need at least a small amount of capital to invest, unless you just want to do casino type gambling.  Guy has probably never had 100k in the bank in his life.  There is no secret, you save and invest.  I see your Bitcoin logo..so apparently you play that..a few got rich, many more lost their shirts, and quite a few are doing the make money by telling rather than doing.  And even a few have committed Bitcoin fraud with boiler room tactics, and just blatantly stole from people..there were no bitcoins.  Crypto currency is here to stay, but it is more risky than day trading..same with the Forex scams.  Make 2% per week, etc..yes, give us your life savings and retire...another case of scammers using something kind of sexy sounding to get people to give them money..a few even paid for a few weeks.

Did you forget what you were about to...

He did not mention anything about the pollution, he should make another video about that. as a young healthy worker, I am sure he is concerned about our environment. .

I've seen this kid. He does come across as a bit naive but perfectly likeable. What I'm trying to figure out is why he has a gf that looks like his mother, when he's a not ugly.

Personally, I think the op is an petty little asshat for feeling the need to share this.

And I also think he doesnt have a clue regarding what working illegaly in thailand actually is.

Well, maybe he is more interested in whats inside than the looks? Maybe he did not come to Thailand to date girls?

Not sure 'date' is the right word.

That's a fallacy. I think it's perfectly possible to have a woman that has a good character but also happens to be attractive.

I feel sorry for the kid, because he's young and could easily, and I do mean very easily, hook up with a very attractive Asian woman. Instead he brings an Asian woman that looks like his mum.

It's a bit odd.

From the video I don't think he's ever dated a girl.
