webfact Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 Tourists on Walking Street given hand sanitiser in bid to boost confidence among foreigners in Pattaya File photo Tourists visiting Pattaya’s famous Walking Street on Tuesday were given a free spray of hand sanitiser. Officers from Pattaya’s Special Affairs Department were handing out the hand sanitizer between 7pm and 4am, according to a post on the Pattaya Law Enforcement Facebook page. The measure is one of a number of moves undertaken by officials in Pattaya to help boost confidence amongst foreigners in the city regarding COVID-19. On Sunday, parts of the city, including Walking Street and Bali Hai Pier were sprayed with disinfectant by teams of officers from the local municipality. The official advice for foreigners in Thailand is to practice good hygiene by regular washing their hands, using an alcohol based hand sanitizer and wearing a face mask. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2020-03-04 Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking Thailand news and visa info 1

Ian Nagle Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 Honesty, I would avoid that area all together. Too many of the great unwashed visit that street. I can't see them wanting to participate with the community free hand outs, all things considered. 1

bbi1 Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 Did they ask each foreigners if they were tourists? So I guess foreign expats and Thai weren't lucky to get a spray of hand sanitiser.

balo Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 Real tourists must be thinking they have arrived to a madhouse.
mikebell Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 False news - Pattaya police don't work nights in case they notice all the motor bikes without lights. More likely the unfortunate cops forced to stay out of bed would be selling the hand sanitiser.

scubascuba3 Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 I'm giving walking street a swerve for a while, it's very popular with South Koreans and look what happened to them, but luckily no girls have come down with the virus..

More people die on the Thai roads every day than will die world wide from Corona, but no one is panicking when they drive. I haven't seen the death rate increased from 3%, and the vast majority never have to go to hospital or get seriously ill. BTW, more people die from the common flue than have died so far from Corona. If it was "highly infectious" it'd be a pandemic last month- back when the WHO was saying it wasn't a problem.
