and then another month and another month and another month...

Or does anybody expect that that virus will just go away anytime soon?

And there shall be much wailing and gnashing of teeth....

They are trying To limit the spread before songkran as many people will return home for the holidays as the the whole country will be infected. I would say after Songkran you will see a spike in new cases outside of Bangkok.

I'm glad they've done this. With the Government ordering closure of entertainment venues in Bangkok, Pattaya had to follow suit. If they didn't, imagine the exodus from the capital down to us at the weekend! This would have guaranteed to spread the virus here.

It’s again head in the sand .. It should be lockdown everywhere ... Beware the ides of March and the cry bring out your dead

If not successful, you will see people piled up at hospitals, dying.

You mean like the UK, a country with a similar population size, in the last 24 hours deaths there have risen from 35 to 71.

Somehow I don't think that go-go dancers in hazmat suits is going to be the next big thing!

Oh I dunno, it could give you something to grapple with - as long you have a can opener with you.

14 days is a start, it will continue if need be... don't be quick to knock-it.

The needs of the "manny" outweigh the needs of the few

and on a different note, I have heard that scientists in Australia have discovered that some already existing drugs are proving very effective against this virus

Well there was a lot of wishful thinking from some people in Pattaya thinking they would be exempt from closing after it was announced it was happening in Bangkok

It will take more than disinfectant to clean that place.

The drains need to be cleaned as a start! As you walk down some Soi(s), the smell is terrible! Also, in some soi(s), the drains, covered by open grates, show muck close to the surface. I'm sure bacteria thrive there!

I would assume that the vendors, taxi drivers, and businesses dumping left-over food, etc, is a big part of that!
