I've been in Thailand since October on a METV and applied for Elite visa some time ago in late November.  I was approved but wasn't going to go through with it as was planning to return to the UK next month anyway.

Obviously everything has changed now and I stumped up the cash for the visa so that I don't need to travel, the payment has been verified and am just waiting on the membership number.   Once I have this I will need to travel to Bangkok immigration office to get the stamp.    This is the part that concerns me.   I have no symptoms and nor do I want to start getting any and I am being extremely risk averse just now.    Is the "stamp" just a formality and is it something that I can get added to the passport in a few months once things have (hopefully) calmed down or is this an essential part of the process that needs to happen before my current visa expires?

I am basically hoping that I can defer the visit to a (probably very crowded) immigration office even if it goes past my current visa expiry (in 50 days time) and they can then backdate the stamp based on the date I receive the membership number without being classed as overstaying.

If you went on an overstay you would not be able to get the Elite PE visa done in your passport. They certainly would not back date an over stay.

It will not take long to have the visa sticker put in your passport at Chaeng Wattana immigration. You will make an appointment with Thai elite to meet their rep at immigration and they will handle everything for you.

Great thanks - in that case I will probably just hire a car and drive myself there and back when it needs to be done
