One of my favorite Youtube channels just did a fantastic video which explains in detail what "flattening the curve" is really about. If you aren't the kind of person who loved advanced Calculus in school, you may not really understand why everyone is so emphatic about social distancing.   Numberphile is a great channel that produces all kinds of educational content about really interesting mathematical phenomenon (watch their video on why the golden ratio is the most irrational number if you want your mind blown...).  Yesterday they made a great video that shows visually exactly what all these models mean and how scientists and mathematicians use them to understand the virus transmission.  If you are curious why social distancing can help, then it is worth taking a look. Beyond just keeping beds free, if you flatten the curve enough, you can actually prevent further infections.  They explain it much better than I. Take a look:
