Interesting Report of Quarantine

Hello, I read what I thought was an interesting first hand report of a quarantine experience from a Thai returning from abroad via the airport.

I thought I would share it as I found it an interesting read.

What a disorganized mess!

How awful, Thainess at its very best ????

Finished reading. They definitely need to improve it. Between us I don’t think the quarentine should be free as would put a burden on government , but shouldn’t be that <deleted>ty either, maybe make people pay 500 baht per night for the accommodation + 2 daily meals or something. And warn in advance so returning people know about it.

With so many hotels bleeding out money in this situation, it would seem the Thai government could make very reasonable deals to quarantine people. Give me a reasonable room to myself, with WiFi, a water heater, and deliver some instant meals three times a day. I would be unhappy, but not upset.

I think the problem here, as was noted in the Google doc, was that the ruling was passed while the passengers were still on the plane.

Yeah but, 3 strangers in same room, with no WiFi and one sleeping in floor? And also probably no shower. All said. That’s as bad as thai jails. Not acceptable for the average citizen. There should be a better solution even if requires people to pay for the quarantine. Maybe make it optional to pay for nice one or the free <deleted> one otherwise.

i was going to post this doc but i was afraid to do it.

Very sad to read it, thanks goodness some common sense prevailed in the end.

And this (together with previous reports of sleeping on concrete floors in tents with no AC and 1000s of mozzies) is why any Thai will do whatever they can to weasel out and avoid being stuck in these disorganized hellhole "quarantines".

What a national disgrace. I remember when this was still starting officials were coming out and saying "rah rah rah, Thailand scores so highly on pandemic prevention list! all ok here, sure." Bunch of hot air that was. There were enough signs coming out of China way back in January that this was going to be a serious problem. This late into the game this kind of bs shouldn't be happening.

Contrast this with online reports of how quarantine looks like for foreign arrivals in Korea. You get bused straight from Incheon to a nearby medical facility. Private room, own bed, shower, toilet, food provided for you. You stay there for 24 hours. After this you get your covid19 test results. If positive they keep you. If negative you download an app on your phone to report your condition daily. They give you a 14 day care package in case you get sick - water, basic supplies, food, etc - and instruct you to go on to the city by taxi. THAT'S how you inspire confidence in a government, keep everything mostly running and maintain new infections at a manageable number at a time when most other countries are ****ing their pants. NOT cold chicken tendies and 3 to a room. Bad enough as a Thai. Wouldn't want to be a farang flying into this den of thieves and liars at this time..

Have they sacked one that I didn't hear of ?

Was his name Anutin ?

Would there be a Thai language version available? Would like some Thai friends to read this too.

So easy to find blame so what would you do then.

The problem is the incubation period of C19 you could have it have no symptoms and still spread it.

There's an investigation about the general responsible for the released/escaped thai who came from NY...

We've only heard one side of the story, and this speaks volumes:

"Disregarding all of that, the goal of the entire operation is to ensure the safety and health of us, a group of people considered to be at risk of contracting covid-19."

Nowhere near as bad as Thai jails. But certainly as bad as jails in other countries.

I must have missed that one, but if its and investigation, it will go away as most do, or they will come up with some excuse that no one will ark up over, as usual IMO.

Well at least it's something, normally the thai do nothing when something goes terribly wrong.

Thai generals do not get sacked - they just get moved to an even more inactive position.
