Just the beginning. This lockdown is not collective suicide, as I first thought. The rich survive. It's just making the poor even poorer, and sacrificing the poorest.  Disgusting to see the jokes c

Tourism in Pattaya was not sustainable at pre-pandemic levels in any case. It won't come back anytime soon, better relocate to somewhere where there might be jobs. A heavy recession will take over for years to come.

Indeed. Be nice to see farang visibly helping out in times like this. T**ts like Anutin do not speak for them all... most are just normal people. At the least, it would help to improve the image of foreigners there right now.

I know of some who are doing this already.

I hope they are seen by the goldshop owner who put this on the door of their business today - 'NO TOURIST.'

Worrying

Well I ll give you a lesson, as it seems you need a few.  Before you start ridiculing and pontificating, throwing out insults.......learn to spell.  It's "parasite"!!

Secondly to you and all those others who seemed to take exception to my rather crude, but disposable remark.  Get your hands in your pockets and help these people out, if this is how you feel.  In the mean time I ll shop round for a car that is heavily discounted due to people losing their income.

Most of you sat there wringing your liberal socialist hands in dispair, might be the same folk who ripped another ass into those 2 Brits and their young family, who fell upon desperate time 2 weeks ago in Koh Pangang.

If you think all this is unfair or unjust - I ll show you that there's nothing fair to just in society.  A good part my income comes from two council properties I bought in the 1990s from the local authority, heavily discounted.  They cost me barely a years pay.  Today they're valued at nearly £500k. And earning me nearly £2000 a month leased out to the very same council who sold them to me, and have been for years.

I m not a parasite I am an astute businessman.  GET OVER IT.

I'm already feeding and providing for 4 Thais.

I think that's enough.

I agree totally with your first two points.

The high thai baht wont help to encourage tourists, who now have less to spend.

You make assumptions I am doing nothing, you could not be more wrong.

Take a lesson from your lecture, cease pontificating

I am could be not be less impressed with your alledged business acumen, you remain a paracite

Check your own spelling by the way, I shall not point out your failings, you are aware of them.

I am helping these people out. For someone with so much money, you sure seem tight when it comes to money.

A more careful choice of words would have been the order of the day, where you don't telegraph how great it is to take advantage during this misery. We get it, the world is not a nice place. Don't try to justify it though.

Manna, sometimes or archaically spelled mana is, according to the Bible, an edible substance which God provided for the Israelites during their travels in the desert during the 40-year period following the Exodus and prior to the conquest of Canaan. It is also mentioned in the Quran three times. Wikipedia

Please explain how your comment is anything but meaningless and completely lacking in compassion for these poor people

OH what joys this is.  I was looking to buy the car for my Thai wife to take her 3 children around.  <deleted> it I won't bother now, I ll keep my money.

My gf and kids are lucky that I am living here and can help them. But she applied for the 5k baht the day it went online, still not a word.

Thai people deserve better than this.

I totally agree with you. I know quite a number of people who are really close to misery now (they never worked in the entertainment industry), and were rejected by the 5k project. We try to help where we can, and fortunately our village boss put up help in form of food. She and her team  check to help the really needy people in the village to avoid to give to by-passers who just want to get free food.

Wrong, Manna means 'I don't know " they were talking about mushrooms. Any clever person can see that in the morning wen we go out in the dawn and see the shrooms. Look it up. Manna means I don't know. Pheonician.

Fortune favors the brave, anyone holding cash will make a killing yet again.  Welcome to the "Money go Round"

Every time I read something on some news, I am positive that tomorrow will be the dooms day. It used to be once a day I heard something 60 years ago, now I hear at every second. Let's all wait the final judgment tomorrow.

Sadly and unfortunately this is the new norm now, some will suffer a hell of a lot then others, good to see that people are choosing to sell their possessions rather than resorting to criminal acts...

Collectively people aren't to the point of having to resort to criminal acts - yet. However, if the boot on the throat of the economy isn't removed very soon, that's probably going to change.
However, the view from rural Thailand is better.  Life goes on pretty much as before.  People still work, still buy and sell. The more isolated the village, the less it's impacted by the craziness in the cities.  That's probably a testament to the fact that the leg on the boot is not quite long enough to reach out into the rice fields nation-wide.  Unlike other countries they haven't place a boot on the throats of the farmers - yet.  That may change.  But desperate people do desperate things.  If they plan to repress hoards of hungry, desperate people, they better hire more police, conscript more kids into the Army (hard to do on lockdown) and buy more riot gear.  Everything's fine until those who have nothing to lose - lose it.

Well firstly I'm only trying to buy a car from someone who no longer can afford to keep it.  No sympathy required there, it's hardly like I ve turfed him and his family onto the street.  Or taking his 15 year old daughter into bonded sex slavery.

Id say without any doubt I d probably pay much more than a Thai car yard or it would be a better solution than the Thai loan shark route.

I ve no intention of buying property as in real estate here, after 10-12 years in the rental game I ve just sold my last one some 6-8 months back.  Never to be repeated.  I ll stick with my rental portfolio back home which pays me handsomely enough, 4 properties let to the Local Housing Authority on a five year lease agreement, with guaranteed income.

Listen you might be one of those few strange fellas that never bothered- but every girl in a bar or Gogo is being exploited due to financial difficulties.  Some drive Fortunas on finance, some as did my missus do it to support 3 young children and a sick mother.  That's where by sympathys are spent.

GET OVER IT, this is the real World I didn't make it.

You certainly provide the sub - flooring though.

Thanks Captain Obvious. Only clueless newbies go (or rather, went) to walking street.

Where's "Elvis" these day?

Let me guess sat in a lavish Bavarian Palace.  And all the other divine support mechanisms that poor foolish religious uneducated folk seek to find assistance from in these times? Nowhere to be seen.

So it's a no brainer really, unleash social unrest and havoc or Covid 19.  My bets are the latter and the least damaging.  But we ll see.

As usual, you try to turn and twist stuff again. Not at all surprised. You as well as others, knows that I was referring to the handling of ill and that they are one of the countries with less deaths. I have also referred to that in many of my posts.

I believe you that my twisting and turning is not surprising would you be surprised if this administration was twisting and turning when they boast of being able to test 20,000 tests per day yet there are over 32,830 PUI's waiting endlessly to be test because the administration claims it's to expensive? If they were able to test 20,000 per day then 32,830 PUI's could be tested in 2 days.Yet they don't.Why?Is it because they don't want to because they have 2 trillion baht stashed away in unspent social security money they boasted about in another story today that could be diverted.32,830 PUI's are they all in hospital?Where are they hiding 32,830 PUI's?Wouldn't 32,830 PUI's in hospital cause the an overload in the Thai health system? No wonder you are not surprised by my twisting and turning as you readily accept this administration's twisting and turning and even praise them for doing it.There are 150 countries with less deaths and infection numbers that Thailand if you want to count them and they are the numbers that we have to go by.All the countries behind the US have less deaths so that's a pretty lame boast to make.
