And even if not going down that route, I'd rather drink a Leo with a gf or knowing I can get a gf for 60bht, 100bht or 150bht than a free glass of great wine in a country where I know I couldn't. The touching, the pressing against me, the tempting, the flirting ..... if they overprice the end game I've always been OK with going home alone and a bit of DIY. It's never a good idea to let the sales person know you're desperate to buy. 1

Popular Post zaZa9
It really is time for non-Thai governments to start reciprocating with equitable import duties on Thai products. This may convince Thais to be a bit more reasonable than what they are now. Thais dont make cheese for example , so its not valid to reason a tax or duty is needed to protect a local industry. Thais do make a questionable wine - and that is their argument for what , 230% taxes ? Theres loads of other things taxed to the max - and it seems the only criteria has to be simply whether farangs like the product more than Thai do. I looked at a Salsa Dip yesterday at Big C . The small jar cost 170 baht , on special from 190. Im sorry , but $9.50 , or even $8.50 aud for a jar of sauce made from blended tomato , onion and chilli , and costing $1.99 aud back home , is simply having a lend. 5

Skeptic7
I love a good cheap red much as anyone, but can't drink that swill. In The States one can get Berringer, Woodbridge, Jacob's Creek, Lindemans, Yellowtail, Cocobon an others for $5-$7. Do yourself a favor and pony up a couple extra bucks. You'll be glad you did! ???? Expats paying 40 baht for a mountain of boiled rice topped with an egg with a generous squirt of fish sauce and call that food. With my good quality table wine in oz I can buy a good chunk of great quality cheese, crackers, olives and a selection of deli meats and cheap crusty real sugar free bread that will last several days for 15 bucks. cheap <deleted> food from the markets here in little plastic bags doesnt go with red wine, none of it!
