Road bike upgrade advice needed

Featured Replies

Talking of upgrades I'd recommend getting a computer as well as a heart rate monitor. I have the Bryton 420 which has breadcrumbs, no need for a phone unless for photos. I took my cadence thing off as I didn't find it very useful

hard to find the source of noise on aluminum bikes, seems to vibrate through the frame and come out somewhere else.   for creaks i usually grease the seatpost and stem, possibly also the sad

  • I'm 100% certain I can do the same, but just haven't found a big enough hill yet.

???? In my book the great thing about cycling is that it can be all things to all people. Some enjoy a few km a day and watch the landscape as it slowly roll past. Or as Hemingway said  “It

Yes although I've not looked recently. Is it easy enough to download the routes to other apps\computers?

Yes very easy - You just click on the ride map that someone have done - Then in the top right corner you can download that ride as a GPX file - You do this on a PC -

Never tried to do it on a phone - Then with that GPX file I will tweak it - Using the Strava route planer - Or the free version of Ride with GPS.   Then when I have the route I want - I copy it over to my Garmin Edge 1030 and away I go ...  I only use the phone for taking photos and then uploading the photos post ride.  The Garmin Edge 1030 is nice as it has wifi - So will sync directly to my Strava account post ride.

I thought about fitting the rack to my road bike, and taking the panniers on Sunday's outing to the pub to for takeaway beer.  But I decided just to wear a backpack.
