Hi,

We are looking at arranging private transfers from the airport to our hotel in Bangkok with Diethelm travel.

I would be grateful if anybody could let us know if they have used this company and if so what was their experience with them.

In particular I would be interested in hearing what cars they use and how comfortable they were, if they were reliable, where you were met and if there was help given wih your baggabe etc.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks

Di

Diethelm Travel is one of the longest-established travel companies in Southeast Asia. I've never had them arrange transportation (although I've used other services from them), but I'm sure they'll be fine. However, there are many companies doing airport transfers. If you would like me to put you in contact with someone for a competing offer, PM me.

I would like to second on that one, but without smiley. When they found out we were scandinavians they even found a thai-scadinavian-english speaking guide for us (free of charge). They used that silver minibus you see everywere in Bangkok. I am very pleased with their services.

You can pay the extra money for "dedicated" transportation if you want to but the taxi service is not that horrible! Keep in mind that an air conditioned taxi ride from the new airport to just about any hotel in Bangkok will only be around 350 baht total, including tolls and surcharge! The price is the same for 3 adults or 1 adult riding in the taxi.

The taxi "kiosk person" writes your destination down for the taxi driver, inspects the car to see if the meter is correct and gives you a slip with the taxi number on it so that you can comment on the ride. Pretty simple!

Up to you.

They are on the International "Dirty List" with regards to Burma so never use them......

From that "Dirty List":

Diethelm Keller/STA Travel

Diethelm Keller Group is a private Swiss company with a wide range of investments, including Diethelm Travel, which operates holiday tours to Burma. Diethelm boasts that it pioneered tourism to Burma. Diethelm also owns STA travel. Aung San Suu Kyi has asked tourists not to visit Burma because it helps fund the regime and gives it legitimacy. Forced and child labour was used to develop many tourist facilities.

So, their 'crimes' consist of organising travel to Myanmar? And that's a reason not to use them? And these 'listers' even go so far to 'blacklist' the holding group because of this?

I call BS.
