Virus screening tight as Thai returnees flood southern border checkpoint

No cases of Covid-19 have been discovered at the Padang Besar border checkpoint in Songkhla so far, after the nearby Sadao crossing was closed last week when at least four immigration officials tested positive for the virus.

(Update) The government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSR) resolved on Monday (April 27) to extend the state of emergency, set to expire on April 30, by another month, CCSR’s spokesman Dr Taweesin Visanuython said.

PHUKET: Nine tonnes of rice from Yasothorn arrived in Phuket today (Apr 20) on a Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) C-130 Hercules under the campaign to exchange rice for dried fish supplied by sea gypsies along the Andaman coast.

Airlines set to return as ban on domestic flights ends

PHUKET:-- AirAsia and Nok Air are both set to resume domestic flights to Phuket on Friday (May 1), the day after the ban on all domestic flights is due to end. The move to relaunch services came before any clear resolution by the Phuket Governor whether or not he intended to lift the “Tambon Lockdown”, banning all non-essential travel between the 17 subdistricts on the island.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - State-owned Thai Airways International Pcl (THAI.BK) will press on with a project to build a $339 million (273 million pounds) maintenance facility east of Bangkok after partner Airbus (AIR.PA) dropped out due to the coronavirus outbreak, a senior official said on Monday.
