Green "New Replies" Banner at Bottom of Page.

I know this has been raised before but there's been no remedy so I thought it might be time to try again.

 

The green "New Replies" banner that appears at the bottom of the page has one or two areas - depending on the number of new posts and whether or not they spill over onto a new page - of invisible text which are only visible if highlighted.

 

See screenshot attached. It says "6+ new replies    (invisible text)    or    (invisible text)" in this example.

 

Why can't the invisible text be made visible in normal circumstances by changing the font colour? I can't see any sensible reason why the text should be normally invisible.
