My Samsung phone is over 4 years old, Galaxy J7, and I am looking to get a new Samsung mobile.

I am not an expert. My current phone is working but not well. It is slow and needs charging often as well as other problems.

Can anyone recommend a top of the range recent Samsung phone for me?

I seek a phone:

1. With a large screen;

2, Speed and not needing to be charged so often;

3. Large capacity;

4. Easy to use, excellent graphics and good for all Applications etc

5 . Will have some guarantee.

I want my purchase from a proper authorized Samsung seller.

Can you please give me some suggestions?

Thank u in advance.

if you'd bought the J7 before coming to LOS; you'd likely have problems buying a replacement battery within LOS. Even matching model numbers does not guarantee the replacement will be physically a match

In getting a solution to the battery problem, I got a $2

"Multi-connector USB Battery Charger"

(see quoted on Google, for then going to ebay)

Did a few cycles with it, and the battery is again very healthy

did the Samsung Smart Manager Report then Fix anything at all?

a quick Google, shows some variety in batteries for applicable country based G7s

even knowing your actual SM-J7*** number can still end up no luck, when it comes to a difference between county of origin of phone vs battery

I needed to replace an old Note 3 at the end of last year and as a quick and cheap fix I bought an A20e, thinking I'd get something better soon after.  But I cannot think of any reason to do so now as this phone does everything needed faster and better then I've known before.  Charging is quick and lasts a whole day, 2 sims, big enough screen for me.  The A series does go up to bigger screen sizes if needed without the expense of the high end Note or S series.  If I break this one I wont care, I'll just buy another.  Certainly worth considering, imho.

Thank you so much for the replies above.

I think I did not exactly make myself clear.

I have a Galaxy J7 phone (purchased in Thailand) but it is now not working well, so I want to but a new top of the range Samsung phone.

Which one can you recommend and why?

Many thanks.

Samsung M31 or Samsung A51, not top of the range phones but seem to have all the necessary bits for a reasonable price.

The Samsung m31 which also has a 6000mahr battery would be the first choice.

I read somewhere that in the future the A51 is planned to be upgraded with 5G so would be inclined not to buy this model yet.

Check some of the phone web sites such as gsmarena and android police and others, see the comments and feedback from some users.

according to this site, what you have is 2 gb worth of ram & 3000 mah battery,

i.e rotten to the core https://www.techmoblog.com/spec/Samsung-Galaxy-J7/

i view 6 GB worth of RAM & 5000 mAh battery basic, oppo a9 got 8 gb 5000 mah for 6.7k bht,

m30s got 6 gb 6000 mah for 7.5k bht,

ulefone power 5 got 6 gb ram 13000 mah for 6.5k bht, that means 2 weeks without charge,

but you need to read the site so they dont shortchange you with a 6500 mah battery.

you only need to look at ram & battery to know if its going to function properly,

there is not much relation between price and hardware,

except for the cheapest of the cheap that invariably comes with neither sufficient

ram nor battery.

the cheapest that still impresses is moto 7 power with 5000 mah for 5k bht,

you wont get a decent battery for less that last until the gogo closes

I highly recommend the Samsung Note 9.

Very large screen and the best phone I ever owned.

You can pick one up from one of the many second hand phone dealers that is as good as new for 15000 Baht.

its not the size of the battery that matters but how the device uses it.

bigger then both a standard phone plus a battery pack combined,

if only i hadnt had so much bad luck, rotten google skills, and a tiny window

of opportunity to get a phone asap

The fact you held on to your J-7 for 4+ years shows you not the type to go out every year and buy the latest hot models.  You buy and hold.

As others have mentioned, a 5G boom is just around the corner and by this time next year, will be in full swing.  The cost of excellent 5 G phones will drop and many new features will arrive.    I suggest you consider a decent but inexpensive "bridge phone for the next year or so, something in the B5000 +- range in which there are many excellent phones.  Make the big, top of the line purchase once 5G is in full swing, then you'll have a phone that you can hold on to for another 4 or 5 years.

As said the Samsung Galaxy M31 has outstanding battery life and although not the top of the line model in many ways probably better for most people, including the price of 8 or 9 thousand baht.  It seems to be selling out as fast as it becomes available.

The Note 9 has excellent battery life. Never dies on me. Very long lasting.

You want a top of the line then buy an S20+ ultra, end of research. That's 40k baht. The J4 was not a top of the line though, more a midrange phone. In that category phones run smoothly unless you are looking for top notch camera 4k video. Can look into A51-A71.

As a side note, Xiaomi just released the Redmi 9s at 5999 baht and that phone easily outperforms by a lot any pricier midrange Samsung

Greatly appreciate all the very helpful replies.

Seems important to concentrate upon Ram and Battery as essentials.

Whilst s20 ultra ticks the boxes the price range for this appears to be over-priced...

M31, A51, Note 9, are distinct possibilities, and how about:

Samsung Note 10+?

its very good except the battery and price,

30k for just over 4000 mah battery.

are you going to play some very taxing games on the phone

to warrant the extra ram ? 6-8 gb ram is already future proof

to cover more updates and more apps for as long as

the battery life last, the phone is going to be ded weight at that point

anyway cause they are almost never replaceable these days.

unless you will use the phone for latest & future games, there is

not any reason to go above 8 gb ram.

much more impact will the battery have, especially

when the battery start showing the age, (the only thing that really age in the sense that it is decaying over time)

a much better balance for that massive cost is 8 gb ram 8000+ mah battery, that will ensure flawless function for as long as you keep it,

but truth to be told i am not aware of any phone that covers both weak links and comes with more then 6000 mah battery, plainly high end is not a good deal,

they shortchange on either ram or battery,

that will eventually be underwhelming and force you to buy another one before you intended to wield a fully functional phone
