Thai govt to launch Covid-19 contact-tracing app

The government will soon launch a Covid-19 contact-tracing app as part of its latest efforts to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus, and the government will regularly organise virus testing for six risk groups, Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin, spokesman of the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), said on Sunday (May 10).

Nida survey shows people worried about second wave of Covid-19

Nearly half the people in a survey said they were worried that travelling across provinces could lead to a second outbreak of Covid-19, while most people agreed with the government's gradual loosening of lockdown measures.

Provincial governors ordered to screen everyone arriving from Phuket

All Thailand’s provincial governors have been instructed, by the country’s Interior Ministry, to screen everyone arriving from the southern resort province of Phuket and to quarantine anyone suspected of being infected with COVID-19.

BMA to extend operating hours of Chatuchak market to 7pm

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) will extend the operating hours of Chatuchak weekend market, from 6pm to 7pm, to accommodate shoppers who prefer to visit the market in the evening, Bangkok Governor Aswin Kwanmuang said today.

MOPH develops reusable PPE

BANGKOK(NNT)-Medical workers who are at the forefront of the fight against the pandemic face the highest risk of infection. Personal Protective Equipment or PPE is essential to protect themselves against the virus, however it can only be used once. Now, the Ministry of Public Health has joined forces with related agencies to developed reusable PPEs that are domestically manufactured.

LONDON (Reuters) - There will be no immediate end to the coronavirus lockdown in Britain, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Sunday, setting out plans to begin gradually easing some of the measures which have shut down much of the economy for nearly seven weeks.

Italy's daily coronavirus death toll and new cases fall

ROME (Reuters) - Deaths from the COVID-19 epidemic in Italy rose by 165 on Sunday, against 194 the day before, the Civil Protection Agency said as the daily tally of new cases fell to 802 from 1,083 on Saturday.

Busted: Police on Koh Samui raid "farang owned" beachside bar - 22 Thai and foreign patrons arrested

Thai Rath reported that a raiding party made up of Bo Phut police, immigration and local officials went to a foreign owned beachside bar and restaurant that was serving alcohol and allowing sit down customers on Sunday evening.
