Wow, you found my lunch bag, I was getting pretty worried as I am required to share my lunch with my boss, and with his boss, at the end of the day my empty brown lunch bag is given back to me by my boss so I can go refill it and start over again the next day.  I wish I was able to have my lunch bag to myself, but I was given my job by my fathers brothers uncle-in-law, big Pawpa.  So you see nepotism pays, well not much for me....

Really, he can fly here if he gets tested for COVID now?  and only in a few months?.....really please tell me more as I am in the need to know category, you know one of the essential little people, do you have the inside track?, what day will the curfew end?, when can I go walk on the beach?, when I can stop using the QR code to buy my food and get into the malls?.

Really? pure speculation on your part.  Just because they write about things in the papers, and talk about stuff, most of it never happens, or when it does it takes a long long time to happen.  They already have thrown on fee's a few years ago for medical, why the need to add more, and for every trip.  There are some of us here who already have medical as we were made to purchase it as part of the Visa and extension process based upon retirement.  But once again, I see you have a crystal ball and you see all.  Please tell me when the next rain will be, and if it will flood in Bangkok again.....

I just remembered this. One of my Thai staff had a male buddy who was a clerical worker at TG HQ on the road to DM airport. 

 

He had no car or m/cycle (couldn't afford same). To get to work he took an old red rattler bus but got off the bus about 1 km before the TG office, then used a taxi to travel the last 1 km to get to work and same to go home. Every day.

Married with my sweet Thai wife, in Thailand AND in my home country, for over 15 years now.

In thailand most of the time, we stay in a comfortable detached house, without direct neighbours, the building is my property, the land hers.

I have a yearly renewed retirement visa, with multiple re-entry for over 10 years now.

And I have for many years a very good, ...and expensive, healthcare insurance from one of the World's top "expat" insurance companies.

I am supposed to fly back to my home country in Europe, alone, mid-september for a 2 weeks stay, I have my plane tickets for (return flight) since February. 

What about coming back to Thailand ...to my wife, in our house, at the end of september, 2020...?

When I last came back, on March 20th, no questions asked, nothing (I wore the top-level mask with virus filter), but I imposed myself a quarantine of 2 weeks at our home, and let myself be checked by a specialist MD at the end of it.

Though, as things are today, it looks like I won't have that possibily this time.

It seems clear that most international regular passengers' flights will, progressively, restart by the beginning of July. THAI (the only direct BKK flight), when and if still flying at all, would re-start its flights to/from my home country a bit later, with a reduced frequency.

But will that 14 days quarantine still be imposed in a same way by then? Piled up in an unhealthy jail-like crowded environment, or being made to pay high prices for the least of creature comfort? Is that it?

(Besides, what about the members of Thailand Elite, I am not one of, will they also be imposed a 14 days quarantine, in the same way, ...having paid for 1, at least, Bht.500,000 for a 5 years duration, or will they be allowed a special treatment, ...as if not an infection risk I mean?)

When you'd want to give it the time, I would like to read your opinion on this. Thank you.

I don't have a Thai family but I think we're both at the bottom of the barrel as far as this regime is concerned. I've lived in Thailand for almost 10 years, spent millions of Thai baht while there, kept my nose clean and never caused a serious problem unless you count my two parking violations, respected Thai culture, and just tried to enjoy my retirement. But everyday it's only a broken record about getting the tourists back, the tourists back, the tourists back. Unless I missed it, I haven't seen one post here about government concern or attempts for allowing people like you or me to return. I don't think people like you or me are even on their radar screen. As for me, when I do get back, it may be time for me to leave permanently. Good luck getting back to your family soon.

You are correct, I have no doubt who will pay, but i wonder if foreigners arriving into LOS (tourists, farang work permit holders, permanent residents, retirement visas holders) will have any choice. Can I select a 2 start hotel or will I be forced to use a 4 or 5 start hotel, and what other chargs will be involved:

 

- Food, will it be as quoted on hotel menu or a special rate?

- Whilst staying st such hotel can I order from outside, can my family drop off food for me, and will there be extra charges on my hotel bill.

- In addition to the above will there be "Special Covid quarantine check-in / check-out charges?

- Will there be additional covid cleaning charges? Including a  dailycharge for daily hand cleaner, and extra charges for covid trained hotel staff? 

- Will there be automatic extra charges because I use a wheel chair? 

Yes I'm being cynical, but nothing would surprise me.

Being cynical, but you can bet everything listed (and quite a few other items) will have a COVID-19 surcharge in the final bill...guaranteed.

For people with money , but how about the people that can and need to get back but don't have that luxury . Again these thing are only for the rich getting richer or the rich being the first to get a chance to get some money back , but how about the normal people(thai and foreigner) are they getting a chance with this method , NO. You think this high luxury method people will be eating at normal restaurants or streetfood or that they will be using a normall hotel wich are hit the hardest and probably didn't have a buffer like the big earners .

It's NOT a hospital stay.... It's a regular hotel stay with a few medical extras thrown in...such as a daily look-in (probably temperature scan) and the ending COVID test, for which you're paying an average daily room rate of 3700 baht... More like a farang bird in a somewhat gilded cage.

I guess this may be an unpopular opinion, but if they would give me a METV for say October with a requirement that I do 14 days of quarantine in a luxury hotel at my expense, I’d accept with a smile, even prepaid.
