Airbus denies renting out jets to THAI

Airbus today denied local reports that it had notified Thai Airways International (THAI) of debts the struggling carrier owes for 30 rented aircraft.

Airbus said in a statement that it had not leased any aircraft to THAI.

Reports on May 20 quoted Deputy Transport Minister Thaworn Senneam as saying that THAI’s debts were checked on May 15, when documents showed that Airbus is trying to collect debts for the rental of 30 airplanes as the due date draws near.

Does not matter, apparently the Ministry of Finance sold their shares, how so, no idea. Now it is up to Buddha.

Maybe they rented from one of the big aircraft leasing companies

Not so sure about this, they bought planes in the past like those 340 that could not be sold ever again. One belongs now to the airforce, permanently parked at Don Mueang on the other side.

9 of the A320s are leased from the AWAS leasing company - these are mostly for the Thai Smile subsidiary, Jet Airways leased 3 Boeing 777s to Thai airways.

The confusion could be that Airbus is trying to recover the debt for maintenance on the Airbus aircraft which are leased from third parties rather than the lease debt itself.

They could still recover the planes, which other stakeholders may not be able to. So now it becomes a fight for what is left over.

Makes sense, then as usual the press have over simplified and dramatized the whole issue reporting inaccurately and avoiding facts they are unable to understand.

They did not sell even 4% only reduced their share to just under 51 % - the entire saga is nothing but a smoke screen - it’s a bailout nothing else.

Yes there's more to this than they are saying Airbus dont make multi million mistakes

Perhaps the smoke is clearing, to reveal that the mirrors are unaccountably missing.

Oh dear someone has been busy cooking,  and its not inflight meals.

Normally the aircraft makers will sell to a leasing company which then leases to the airline.

Maybe a matter of definition and someone playing semantics.Airbus says have they have not leased any aircraft. Thai says Airbus is trying to collect rent. There is a major difference between renting and leasing. What does the contract cover Rental or leasing  or is there a contract.

German. ????

Get ready Airbus,  right now you already got too many aircraft parked not only Thai you will take whatever the judge gives you and then redraft Rent/Lease ba????ck out again unless you got people lining up for them?

  • Popular Post

So i guess someone said that he needs billions of dollars to buy xx aircrafts. Those aircrafts seems now to only have been rented. Wheres the money. In who pocket do they now hide ....

Airbus sells to the leasing companies, which then lease the aircraft to THAI (TG).

In TG's case, for Airbus aircraft, leasing companies include:

Aviation Lease and Finance

CIT Aerospace International

RBS Aerospace International

There have been reports of leasing cabin staff in the future.

so by thai logic i should long thai airways stock right ?
